Was a urine infection. Apparently now clear. Family are worried that as the GPs told them they just have to get on with it themselves, if they persist he'll deregister them.

    Waves at WaS.

I am happy in general at the moment but a bit sad that I have 'lost' so many years to mental health problems. I have one or two grey hairs and I feel sad that I am going grey before I have had a chance to like myself.

On the good news front, a £70 parking fine has been cancelled. Phew. I was nearly on the point of paying it.

I also got littlewing's xmas dollshouse for half price. I was checking the internet daily for nine weeks and persistence has paid off. I am glad as I thought I would have to buy it with a 20% discount.

Guess what! Do you remember how my plane was delayed by 4 hours when I was returning from Italy in September?

Well, I looked up MSE's section on compensation for delays, and there was a very simple tool to use, to make a claim. Which I did.

After a while, I got an Email from the tool prompting me to escalate the claim, if I wanted to, which I did.

I've just received a very large cheque from British Airways! Probably the cost of the flight. (I don't know, as it was included in the package).

I'm very impressed with the power of MSE!

  • Wooo! Well done on the money saving both of you!

Elsien have you tried one of the places like Age concern or Help the Aged? They really helped with getting adaptations and hurrying things along with agencies for Milliefleur.

(I am posting through the feeling stupid part. I may go quiet again if I think I have made too much of an idiot of myself).

Nothing stupid at all, WaS. People who use services probably have far more idea how they work in practice, as opposed to how they "should" work.
It's less about adaptations and more about behaviour/illness. ER won't/can't do anything for themselves. Family want to try to find out if they genuinely can't, in which case they're going to need a care package, or whether if it's exaggerated it's safe for them to back off and offer less help.
Not easy, trying to help from a distance when everything is coming third hand. And very frustrating when agencies promise and don't deliver.

Has ER had psychiatric assessments? There are ways to push these things through that are a bit extreme, like in a moment of confusion calling an ambulance and going through the A&E route. That is extreme though and may make the relationship between all parties much worse. All I can think of is try to find an advocate to do the pushing for you all, and keep hassling social services, they are often slow but they do get there if you remind them that you exist often enough. Another way of approaching the latter is for the relatives themselves to contact social services and say we are not coping and we need help so a separate case is created for their support. At least if a full assessment is done the relatives know whether they can back off or not.

    gentle {squish} for WaS
Moo - being groomed sounds so dodgy (giggles) is that a work thing or are you being pawed by pets?
**bangs head against fort wall** the useless Uni admin is driving me nuts and I seriously considering quitting as the added stress is not what I wanted, and it is seriously impeding my ability to be able to concentrate and do assignment. sigh
and {welly and calley shaped squishes too} you two ok?
  • Aw, flybaby, squishes back. That sounds so frustrating! Is there anyone particularly assigned to you at Uni that you can complain to?

(PS. Melly, eat something and cuddle Alan for me)

  • Wouldn't know what to advise elsien, but I hope somethings gets resolved soon, it sounds an awful situation for all concerned :(

Cute penguins Pyxis! D ordered this http://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/shop/collections/products/luxury-boxed-chocolates/large-luxury-chocolate-box from Hotel Chocolat for his Mams 80th. It's the biggest box of chocolates I've ever seen!
  • That is amazing, Gerogie! I am in awe of the chocolates! I gave up buying WaSp sweet things after last year. He really likes old fashioned sweets so I bought him a hamper of them. He thinks it is so special that he won't eat any and it's still sitting there a year later. That wasn't the idea!
