Always good to have nice surprises
This cold is really making me miserable, I'm leaning towards appealing my PIP decision as my result were 6 and 4 points (you need 8 for either category). I need help, and better help than my kind but hopeless flatmate. Help that can help me fold clothes, get food sorted and portioned out, damp dusting (it affects my breathing), changing the bed, cleaning the bathroom properly. Yes friends could help, but I still want to pay them! I could just about cover it atm. But only just:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -

Enjoy your baking RJ
I always find baking to be very therapeutic.
Hope your infection clears up soon Calley. Yay to the competition wins though! My Mam enters all the competitions in Take A Break and a Chat magazines. She always put my name on them, but she hasn't won anything yet.
Hope your cold clears up soon dragonette.0 -

It was and very funky LOL!!!!
Not something I would have bought myself. But very nice compared to the knitting bag that I have to store my x-stitch in.
Could even use it as a handbag LOL!!!

Hi all! Well done Calley, I love the bag!
I think I have mentioned before that we used to have a young man living downstairs who always asked how I was when he saw WaSp and whom I liked very much? He isn't aware quite what is wrong with me, WaSp just says I recieve DLA because I need care but he has heard me scream at night in nightmares and checked with Wasp that I am ok before. He has also seen me edging up and downstairs on my bottom! I always thought it was very sweet and funny because he would literally bow to me when he saw me, he was a typical loud young guy with his friends but always treated me with the greatest of respect. He moved out around a year ago but only lives a few houses away now so WaSp still see's him a lot.
He is a member of the Hindu Temple which is also just a couple of houses away. WaSp saw him today and he said he hoped I didn't mind but he had put my name forward for Dawali this year. This is the equivalent of Hindu Christmas in celebration terms, also know as the Festival of Lights. They all bring heaps of home baked food and share it together while they celebrate in beautiful costumes with fireworks going off and music.
Every year the members are asked to choose a person each who the temple should help so he chose me! This means that on the day someone from the Temple will arrive with a basket of home cooked, celebratory food for me, along with any other gifts that members want to donate. He said for women it is usually glittery scarves and cheap but shiny jewellery! The food will be sweet and savoury pastries and individual sweeties.
I am so touched, what an incredibly kind thought! I really don't think I deserve it though, there are many other people who could benefit more than me. I can't believe that he thought of me.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

How lovely.
He obviously thinks you are a very special person and that you deserve it.
So enjoy it.

Ooh yes! What a lovely gesture!
I didn't know they did that at Diwali time! I've seen fireworks and stuff, but didn't know about the present-giving! You must tell us what you get!

It's the 11th November. He had to tell WaSp in advance to make sure I didn't have any food allergies beforehand, plus people had been chosen two days earlier and he was excited! All of the members contribute homemade food for their celebration and then make a little extra to be given to people in the community. They can choose anyone they want to, someone with a disability, someone who has been especially kind to them, someone with little money, etc. It doesn't matter as long as it is someone they care for that they believe deserves a gift. It is impossible but I am also invited into the large hall that they use to celebrate to join in with them and collect my gift personally if I wish. There will be far too many people though for me to try that, but I can see their fireworks from the bedroom window so I will sort of be there with them!
No one has ever nominated me for anything like that before, what a lovely, lovely thing to do..Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

That's lovely WaS!
I went to a Hindu temple a few years back for a tour round and they gave us all food at the end. It was really nice and tasty so you will enjoy it. WaSp did tell him you allergic to bondage fruit though didn't he?!
They showed us how they donate a lot to the local community. I'm not sure how much people know about what various religions do for the community, its a shame really as they do out an awful lot of effort in.0
