What has happend on your job Claire is poles apart from making and window the wrong size, or having a bit of plaster fall off the wall during an installation. They employed cowboys who don't have a clue about sash windows or how a building is constructed.
As we have all mentioned previously ,they guys who just about wrecked your house and left it in a dangerous state had worked for Ventrolla for years so how many other poor cleints are living in houses that are dangerous.
Just my opinion but I would bet my house on it that your experience is not the first or last. They do have a lovely website but as they say " All fur coat and no knickers"...........
Is this a reference to Sarah Beeny?0 -

Is that the Bay they got wrong twice Claire?. I can't believe you waited so long for what is essentially just 3 casements........0

Unfortunately, yes leveller2911. We have been waiting 17 months for this window!
This is how it originally looked in May 2015.

We had to have the box bay itself rebuilt (this was done in July 2015) due to it having a lead roof and not a lot of support which caused 2 cracks down the rear facing box bay wall (the red rendered part behind the big weed). We had the brick pillars built either side to support the roof, so this shouldn't happen in the future.
But yes, all it is is 3 casement windows.

Well at least its almost finished...lol
On the orginal bay window where you have the lower section with the large piece of glass was there any sign of it being divided into 3 at any time ,like the top section with 3 fanlights?..
The large piece of glass looks out of place in the original and sometimes you see people having the 2 central mullions/posts taken out and the mortice holes filled and painted so instead of 3 panes of glass you have one large pane which some people like as you get a less obbstructed view of the garden..
The style of the original square Bay is typical of the Arts & Crafts period so around 1880-1914 and the roof above it is alos typical so does the house date back to then?.........
Oh and also in the original Bay window photo had your lawn mower broken?....0 -

I am shaking my head with despair. I look at the timber "propping", and I look at the construction of the box bay walls. I am shocked that Building Control have seen this, a Structural Engineer has seen this and Ventrolla have pulled out all the stops over it.
Who has what over all this, if anything at all has been said?
I am not trying to burst a bubble, nor cause problems but the whole situation is shocking.
Sorry Claire - I am guessing you will not now be sending me a Christmas Card. I am posting to alert, and advise other consumers, but you are welcome to come back to me.
Kind Regards

You are right, there was evidence of this in the old wooden window, the 2 posts literally just chopped off top and bottom and a big pane of glass inserted. Think this was changed many, many years ago - before our neighbour began living there over 40 years ago. The 2 cracks were where the 2 posts would have been, removing the support.leveller2911 wrote: »The style of the original square Bay is typical of the Arts & Crafts period so around 1880-1914 and the roof above it is alos typical so does the house date back to then?.........
The surveyor said the house was about 150 years old. My husband and I thought this bay was possibly a later addition, but not sure.leveller2911 wrote: »Oh and also in the original Bay window photo had your lawn mower broken?....

Hi Furts
The timber propping was only the frame for the temporary chipboard wall (can be seen to the side of the picture) we had protecting us from the elements for the last 17 months. Its definitely not part of the box bay, I would be concerned if it was and would have questioned it.
We have had the local council Building Control look at it and he seemed happy - I'm sure he would have said something if he wasn't! It still needs to be plastered and the window board added - so still essentially a 'work in progress'.
Obviously I do not have your address, but here is a little something for you.

You obviously know your stuff. Here is a picture of the front, do you think it was original to the house?
