has anyone ordered from ugggt.co.uk?? wondered if these are genuine uggs or expensive fakes.
    Thanks in advance

See my post (#9819) just above:

It isn't difficult to spot the fake sites and has been repeated here many times, but at the risk of boring people, I'll repeat some useful tips for people newly arrived at this thread.
    1. http://www.uggaustralia.co.uk/uk-online-retailers/authorized-online-retailers,en_GB,pg.html is the official, up to date list of authorized retailers. If it is not on the list, they are fake. (ok, maybe, just maybe they are real and grey market but 99% are fake so as Harry Callahan would say "do you feel lucky?")
    2. Only uggs.com and uggaustralia.com are authorized by Dekkers to trade using an "Uggs" domain name. Anyone else is fake. So a search in Google that brings up other domains like mentioned above is almost guaranteed to be pointing to a fake site.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Wow thats nasty! The Daily Mail are known for their sensationalism but it also doesn't suprize me that this sort of stuff goes on- fake sites and the like try to cut corners wherever possible mainly to raise as much funds as they can, its where these funds go that was one of my main concerns. Being fake the boots would be unlikely to be made by a company either paying tax or even proper labour costs. The money could be funding anything from drugs to terrorism to worse then you could comprehend, its scary to think of the consequences or just how easy it is for the fake companies to get in the sales when demand is so high for getting labelled things as cheaply as possible. I don't think for a second that Ugg Australia boots are the only brand these fake companies copy.
  • Hi! Question for you... My daughter wants some uggs for Christmas. I did some research and decided that UGG Decker will not be for her because the whole trademarking deal I don't agree with and we try to also not buy things made in China if there are alternative/locally made ones. Plus, we don't care if Pam Anderson wore them or not.

Need help deciding... I love the Celtic uggs... Or sheepskin boots... because they're UK made and they seem very eco-friendly which we are big on. But, since we're looking for uggs, buying from NZ/OZ seems more appropriate because that's where uggs are from. Also, the Celtics are a bit more than the Kiwi Sheepskin that I came across. I love the Kiwi because they're £25 cheaper than Celtics and all the reviews here, and elsewhere, said the Kiwi brand is very well made. For a growing child, economically the Kiwi makes more sense. I'm just in limbo because of the carbon foot print to get them here.

All dilemma aside, if I were to go with either brand what size do you recommend me getting for my 19cm and 14cm girls? I read that the Kiwi are bigger. True? How about Celtics? Will any collapse in a year? I hate seeing people walking around with collapse uggs. I am hoping those I saw were not made of really good material (aka fake uggs - no matter what brand it is). Personally I am not an ugg fan. I think they're kind of uggly (ha) but my daughter doesn't think so and she doesn't usually ask for things.

Last... The skinning process... Are these sheeps that people eat too or farmers just wise these sheeps for the sake of skinning them? If it's the later my daughter might end up with fake sheep skin boots. I'll probably email them and ask. I know animals were created to help us grow but the thought of mass slaughtering, especially just to wear, i don't like. Thanks!

I can't answer your questions on Celtic specifics, your better off googling for reviews and seeing what comes up, I do know they pride themselves in inventing the Ugg style boot before Ugg Australia/Deckers did. However on Amazon Ugg Australia are cheaper then Celtic boots so I have Ugg Australia, they also fit me better so more of a personal specifics thing, maybe better to try them on first as I was aiming to get Emu boots this year until I tried them on and found they just didn't fit me, even with my toes squished into the front, my heel was still slipping around in them which makes me worry about them falling to one side at the heel. Sadly Emus are not for me. I'd now be wanting to try on things before I made a set decision!

I don't know about the skinning process to be honest and I'd imagine the very same question applies to all things leather and even things like wool- some softer wools could potentially have the younger animals hurt during the process for example, we just don't know and if retailers had it their way, we'd never know so I can't even suggest you go to the companies and ask- those who are proud to support animal safe skins (leathers, wools, pelts and sheepskins included) will no doubt boast about it but then how do you tell the difference? How do you know who is trying to cover things up and how do you even know if the person answering your question really knows and isn't just fobbing you off because they have to have XXX many emails sent that day? I guess you'd have to research that all yourself, I doubt it would be easy.

But don't forget, just because you can see both sheepskin AND leather on the boots- do you also have the same concerns about leather shoes- even some trainers and footballs are made from leather, then there are things like car seats, leather shoes and soles to shoes, purses....do you ask the same questions about these items? If you do you may already have links as to where to find the answers to your questions, if not maybe if your asking the same questions anout sheepskin boots, its something else you may get quizzed on!
  • jenniewb, thank you for your detailed reply!

I haven't purchased leather goods for a few years now. I haven't gotten rid of old things but no new purchases. My current handbag is what most would consider a grocery bag made from cotton. My shoes were made of recycled tires, potato sacks made fair trade in Ethiopia. I just started buying new clothes. I used to buy clothes at consignment shops but in the UK there isn't any and charity shops aren't quite the same as a US consignment store. Guess as I got older I have gotten a bit soft and self righteous :) Some of my friends call me a lentil weaver :/

While it's how I like to live, I don't try to make others do the same. My husband thinks my shoes are hideous and he's so glad that I finally bought some new clothes. He loves his leather goods and as long as its humane, animals are for us to consume. That's why when our daughter asked for uggs I started researching. I want to buy from a good company that uses 'happy' sheeps.

Anyways, it's basically why I wanted to see if anybody here knows about the skinning part...

As for trying... If I take DD to try now she'll know that I am considering uggs for her XMas present. So I'll just wing it and hope they'll fit or she'll grow into them soon.

As for reviews... Can't find much about Celtic collapsing or not. I read about the warmth but that's it. Then the Kiwi... Are some of the reviews on this thread fakes? Seems odd to create an account and post just that one thing, how awesome the boots and shipping was. Coincidently yesterday a lady with some Kiwi passed by me. I remember seeing the tag/logo on the website and hers looked it and I stopped her to ask. She said she was happy with her boots and hers looked nice. I just hate seeing kids (and adults) walking around with with collapsing uggs. Each time I want to walk up to them and ask how it could be comfy to walk on the sides of their shoes.
