The wife is a size 5 but she got a size 4 in the skechers short artic shearlings and they fit perfectly. She says they are toasty warm too and for £39.99 (at the time) they were a steal. 25% of the cost of short ugg boots (the only type that aren't pig ugly)

Thanks I'll go for a size 5 in stead of 6 then - like my ugg styles to be snug anyway :)

Missingink, I agree with Zaksmum. It seems such a shame especially seeing as the boots are supposed to be a gift but you should waer the if they are causing you discomfort. I'd get in touch again because there is clearly some kind of fault with the sizes if they are that big with you and Hartingtons don't seemed to have provided you with any decent customer service skills what so ever. If the fault had been yours to start with it would go some way to understanding why they have been unhelpful but even in that scenario they should try and do their best. I'm generally not someone to kick up a fuss but in your situation I think a fuss is exactly what's needed!

    Thanks, both.:)

I see what you're saying & I do agree with you, but I think the OH has washed his hands of the whole thing now & is just happy that I have my xmas present at long last (at great cost to him!) If he was willing to take things further then fine, it is his money after all.

I have emailed Hartings again(today)& explained about the pain I'm suffering. Also reiterated my previous email (that they didn't reply to) about a second pair of insoles. I'm not too hopefull.:(

I feel they're to blame for the first pair of boots(UK7)being too big as that was the size they recommended but I was the one who pushed for them to send a UK6, pretty confident that they would fit from what everyone else had said about them. So is it still their fault?

no its not a stupid question. I have size 6 boots and bought size 6 insoles. I also bought size 6 insoles for my size W7 uggs (UK 5) as the soles pretty much match the LFAs I have (maybe a few mm smaller) but they did need some chopping with the Uggs (but nothing like a whole size) they did not need any chopping with the LFA boots.
The one thing I would say is that they are quite thin and I would even say if your using them to make boots slightly smaller, get a pair of cheap insoles and glue them to the celtic sheepskin ones as they can wrinkle slightly when in the boots. The are very soft though and do last well.

I've had the same problem with my second pair of insoles too & had been wondering if I could stick another pair of insoles to the skin side.:)

Just wondering, what glue did you use please? I only have superglue & was worried this would dry too hard & therefore not be flexible enough. Also worried it may 'eat' through the sheepskin!

No glue, just sweat, compression and dust :D but if I were to use glue I' just tab a little on either end and on each side- 4 dots. This gives the insoles a change not to air bubble or wrinkle and prevents hard lumps forming, I did use two pairs of sheepskin insoles though (I thought one would be enough but it wasn't so ordered another, by then the first pair had sort of set/moulded to the sole so I just placed the second over the top) if I were putting two in I'd get a Kiwi or Scholl liner from somewhere like Tescos and then add a sheepskin liner over the top. If your really pro you could get a proper supportive insole from a sports store or Boots (around the £30 mark) and then put a liner over that, but thats if your made of money!!
