Hi. This is my first post on here, I'm trying to get some Uggs for my girlfriend for christmas. The ones i want are the Nightfall Boot Chestnut. Have looked for ages for a deal good enough, and only come across YOYOSILVER.COM....
However despite much debate online, i found that the site is based in Hong Kong, so i think it is probably fake seeing as they pretend to be American. Google yoyo silver hong kong for website analysis sites as proof.
So guys any help on getting them would be great! Or do they come in a lighter like sand colour at all?
Cheers, Dave0 -
Having read many of the (often aggressive) posts here, I've done some research.
Apparently, since January 2009 the (original) Aussie Ugg manufacturers (made in Australia) are no longer allowed to export sheepskin boots bearing an Ugg label! This is because Deckers, the US corporation - who now sell all kinds of other goods under the name of UGG - registered the name UGG as a Trade Mark, & have since spent zillions of $$ to prevent Aussies using their home grown generic term!
For instance, Jumbo Ugg boots have now been forced to change their name & have rebranded their product as 'Koalabi'.
Many of the original Aussie Ugg manufacturers are now going under (sic) -some having been in business for 20 years plus!
It gets my dander up too, reading posts from people who truly believe that Ugg boots made in China are genuine!
'UGG Australia' is simply a name! Expensively priced, branded & hyped to convince customers that these are the real deal! The sheep skins used are inferior to the Aussie ones, & quality undoubtedly not as good, yet so many people don't care as long as the label is 'right'!
I'm leaving this message simply as information, so please don't bombard me with abuse for simply passing on facts!
So, I've just bought my GF Ugg boots from an authorised retailer, right. So, you're saying because they say 'Made in China' on the label, they're fake? You are very wrong.
I've checked every guide on the internet and cross-referenced these boots rigorously and yes, they were made in China; but NO they are not fake.
Came complete with an authenticity certificate, approval from the Ugg Australia website and original Ugg packaging.

Phil,
You haven't cottoned on to the whole context of this and have therefore miscontrued the message.
The OP was actually reinforcing the fact that ugg boots were a generic style and ugg a generic name, with high quality boots made by many manufacturers all having their slice of the action and then Deckers came along and effectively hijacked the name and trademarked it to manufacture in China under the UA brand.
Personally I think the crux is that it is wrong to call other brands fakes (unless they claim to be UA), but I can understand why the OP says that the Chinese boots are not 'genuine' considering the hijacking (or tight grip) of the brand took place and the original manufacturers are still beavering way making ugg boots as they may have done for generations, but are left in Deckers wake as they go for global domination.
To illustrate the point ... just suppose I could go out today and trademark the word 'cheese' .... would that suddenlyake every other piece of cheese fake because it wasn't packaged in a Lizdav Cheese wrapper? ... Of course not, but with some people, that is the attitude towards all other manufacturers of ugg style boots.
People (me included) are getting annoyed by other non-UA boots being called fakes when they are perfectly authentic as ugg boots, just not Ugg Australia boots.
There is nothing wrong with people demanding UA boots and proof of authenticity of that, but it is perhaps wrong to think of them as being the genuine article ... it feels wrong, when Champagne can only be called Champagne when produced in a small area of France, yet ugg boots traditionally Australian can be considered genuine when manufactured in China.
Personally, I am happy for people to buy their boots UA or not and are entitled to that free choice.
My complaint is that some people are too quick to dismiss any other manufacturer and call it a fake and assume that people ALL want the UA boot ... some of us don't want to pay for branding.0 -
Just a bit of a heads up on something.
Recently the Metropolitan Police (acting on a complaint from UA) shut down a large number of sites promoting the UA boots that they claimed were not genuine resellers.
In at least one case that I am aware of, it appears that UA displayed a great deal of ineptitude and caused anxiety for an affiliate of an approved merchant.
The affiliate site was shut down even though it was not directly selling the boots, but was instead pointing the visitor to the approved retail store ... and that affiliate site was branded as a counterfeiter on UA. UA completely failed to understand how Affiliate Marketing works and just got the site shut down.
So ... don't just assume that because it isn't on the UA list of approved stockists, that they aren't helping you find a cheap UA boot.
NOR should you believe that a site is necessarilly a counterfeiter based on UAs list unless that site is actually asking you for your money.
However, if you are after looking for cheap UA boots, then by all means do folllow the sites (some affiliates may have voucher codes to promote that you may not find on the approved retailer site), but if you end up at the checkout, that's the time to check whether the folks wanting your money are selling genuine UA boots.0 -

Thanks for that clear explanation Lizdav!
Apologies for repeating myself, but the absurdity of this incident might now be more pertinent following Lizdav's post:
Last week I saw a woman wearing Jumbo Ugg boots brand - I asked her where she bought them... she replied, "They're fake, they're from Australia!"0 -
Don't know about just sheepskin but I got a pair of these http://www.kiwi-sheepskins.com/detail.asp?product_id=FW030 in black earlier this year. IMO the sheepskin quality is just as good as my Ugg Ultimates but the thick sole feels heavier than my Uggs and the sizing/width is generous to the extent that my feet slip around even with socks on. If I was ordering now I'd go for the size smaller, I'm a size 5 - 5.5 and I ordered a 5.
I don't really wear them outside because of this, which is a shame because they're really good value & quality, delivery was very quick and I somehow managed to avoid customs charges!
I bought thick soled, tall lace up boots from them 3 years ago and I'm wearing them as I type. They are worn everyday from October until March and I've worn them in temps of -5 and a foot of snow, without socks and my feet were toastie. All I do is replace the insoles.
My daughter has some softer soled Bearpaws and when I took them to be resoled the cobbler asked where I'd got them from as the quality was far better than the designer Uggs he gets in to resole.0 -

Phil, the UA boots (which will say made in china) you bought are genuine so please don't worry. These posts now being made are part of a wider debate over the supposed rights or wrongs of the decker brand.
While it is rightly unacceptable to some posters to call non decker (and not purporting to be decker) boots fake, it appears to be ok to make statements such as "UA boots made in china are not genuine". Neither of these scenarios is correct, and imo all both do is cause unneccessary confusion and concern to those looking for boots especially in the run up to xmas.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

Sorry, but these will not be genuine UA boots which I presume you want given the home page of this site. No contact details apart from an email, spelling mistakes throughout the site and google throws up a few reports from peeps who have received bad fakes from them. Stay away.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0
