Hi all, Ive been stalking this thread for weeks now and finally decided I want to buy my first pair, Classic Talls in Grey. I saw a link for Nordstrom in America and just wondered if anyone has bought boots from there/from America before and what I'm likely to face in terms of Taxes etc when they get here!

Talls are £114.61 with free shipping, I'm just scared it's going to cost me £70 in import fees to get them here! Any advice would be much appreciated :D

Haven't looked at the website but usually shipping will only be free within the US. It proberly charges for international shipping. P.S I've bought stuff from the US before, sometimes you get hit with import fees and other times you don't... Its pretty hit and miss.

I was going to order from Nordstrom, they are a well respected department store in USA. when you place an international order, they use a courier company that requests prepayment of UK import taxes. I was looking at ugg eggplant shorts, on the site they were around £89, I think with the postage and prepaid import taxes it brought it to around £115 to £120. I didn't order in the end as they did not have my size. Oh, and remember USA sizes are different to UK sizes. I am UK size 6, that I believe equates to USA size 8;)

Ahh yes I just looked and I won't get free shiping you're right!

    Duties & Taxes
Your order total is guaranteed at the exchange rate set when your order is placed. International taxes, tariffs and value-added tax (VAT) will be calculated into your final order total during Checkout and can be viewed under 'Duties & Taxes'.

Duty, customs tariffs and VAT are set by the destination country. They are determined based on the purchased merchandise's country of origin or manufacturing and the classification of that merchandise in accordance with a harmonized system adopted and used by the countries that FiftyOne supports. The amount of applicable duty, tariffs, taxes and VAT will vary by country and will be determined and guaranteed by FiftyOne during Checkout.

Does this mean that whatever my final payment is, I won't be taxed when they enter the UK?

I have got a 5% discount off cloggs but want more off. Surely there must be a way to get them cheaper than £190.00!!??!! in a size 7

This thread is for people who are after a good deal on ugg boots, whether that be Deckers or otherwise. If you read through the thread you will see that. But thank you for your valuable input:D

That is very true, but there are a number of people on here who call anything that isn't Deckers a fake ... which just isn't factually correct.

I also see people saying that if it says ugg in the URL, then they will be fake boots ... again, I haven't seen any of that substantiated but it keeps on getting repeated. Decker doesn't own the name ugg ... they don't have a patent on the boots and anyone can manufacture ugg style boots freely. They will just not be allowed to use the trademark with the big G. I will be happy to be referred to a reference that says that ugg manufacturers cannot use the name ugg in a url because it is owned by Deckers, but I don't like facts stated without substantiating them.

The whole thread seems to be dominated by WAG types after the Decker brand and disregarding anyone else after a good quality boot without the brand premium.

Fine to tell people that these will not be Deckers, but to call an ugg boot a fake just because it isn't made by Deckers really gets my dander up.

Which came first? ... the chicken or the egg ... don't know.

Which came first? ... Deckers or the ugg boot ... the ugg boot of course. Deckers just saw a branding opportunity.

Probably controversial, but people who have read other posts by me will know that isn't actually my style. This is my opinion on the thread so far based upon what I have seen. Apologies to those who do have open minds and have shown themselves prepared to help whether people are after Deckers or not and boo to those who just dismiss any other thoughts about non-Decker boots.

I also see people saying that if it says ugg in the URL, then they will be fake boots ... again, I haven't seen any of that substantiated but it keeps on getting repeated. Many of the sites I recall being posted on here with ugg in the url were purporting to sell the UA brand not generic uggs though, and they were in fact fake. I do remember one site being posted recently where the OP asked if they were genuine, and while someone else posted they were fake I replied stating they appeared to be genuine uggs but not the UA brand. But unfortunatley sites like that are the exception and the overwhelming majority of sites posted on here with ugg in the url are selling fake UA boots. Peeps need to be aware of that and of the importance of researching any site thoroughly beforehand.

Again, while what you say about Deckers is correct, the fact is most of the sites posted on here with ugg in the url are fake sites purporting to sell genuine UA boots, not just generic ugg boots. If someone on here has incorrectly called a site out as fake, I would hope other posters would speak up and correct them in an attempt to help the OP who has posted the site in the first place.

The whole thread seems to be dominated by WAG types after the Decker brand and disregarding anyone else after a good quality boot without the brand premium. I am loving being referred to as a WAG type:rotfl: But seriously I am a UA lover, thats all I buy out of personal preference and I find it unfortunate that people chose to label me because of that. I have never disregarded anyone on this thread who is looking for alternative brands because I understand that everyones tastes and budgets are different ,and at the end of the day we all have the common goal of wanting a nice pair of uggs at a good price, whatever label they may be. This thread is also frequented by posters who prefer alternative brands, and I would hope if anyone else reading feels that the "wag types" dominate the thread, that they would chose to start posting and redress the balance.

Fine to tell people that these will not be Deckers, but to call an ugg boot a fake just because it isn't made by Deckers really gets my dander up. I agree, but I don't think the majority of posters on here do that though:confused:

Don't apologise for giving your opinion. I hope you continue to post on here as you are obviously passionate about uggs, and could help the many posters who come on here especially at this time of year.
