  • Wo! This thread has been busy since my last post.

Re the uggs that have ugg on them that are NOT Deckers -

    Example see link below

    http://www.snugaustraliauggboots.com.au/short_ugg_boots/c8/p196/Offroader_3/4_Ugg_Boots_-_Chestnut/product_info.html

Please would someone mind explaining if they consider these fake why they think so?

    I await the onslaught!

    EDIT :
Have a look at this link,if you are after some genuine Uggs below is a good place

    http://www.australianaura.com/classic.htm

    And then:

Please have a read of the disclaimer on this site, it makes VERY interesting reading.
    I rest my/our case!

  • my cardy boots came this morning from shudoo love them but now want a classic pair from asos aswell been greedy!!:D
  • I'm not Mookie but I can certainly answer your question. The term Ugg is not owned by Deckers at all and indeed there are companies that produce Ugg botts outside of Deckers UGG Australia brand, which is they only name they copyrighted.

    http://www.australianuggboots.com.au/uk/index.htm

This company was producing sheepskin Ugg boots long before Deckers even existed!

And no, they are not FAKE boots before you even dare suggest it :D

    Thanks Chameleon
I did click your thank you button but it did not seem to register.

They are lovely boots. I have the grey ones. You will now develop the ugg greed. I had one pair last Christmas. Got some more in the spring, have since added to my collection & now have 5 pairs lined up along the wall.
I would love more but have 6 kids & they will be expecting something for that festive day next month.;)

You keep mentioning Ugg boots, I hope a lot of people read this part of this post. Deckers own the word Ugg and the Ugg Australia brand. There are no boots on this planet that can use the word UGG or Ugg Australia apart from Deckers. There is no such thing as an Ugg boot not made by Deckers, yes there are sheepskin boots in similar style to Ugg's, heck 90% of them are the same style, maybe even better quality, maybe even the same quality, but they are NOT Ugg boots.

Out of interest Mookie, if you have time, could you possibly show me a website that sell's Ugg boots that are not branded UGG or UGG Australia. In this website you find for me, it should specifically state that they are Ugg boots.

Cage, deckers don't "own" the name ugg at all, like mookie has already said its just a generic term used to describe a style of boot. A lot of people are confused about this though, which is why threads like this are so useful.

On another note i received the uggs i ordered from m and m direct and i am over the moon with them. I actually ordered them for my OH, and they look exactly the same as the mens short uggs which i went and had a look at in town at the weekend. Thanks again to mookie for patiently answering all my rambling questions when i was debating about whethere to order them. You're a star hun :A x

    Thats ok Claire.

For clarification of Claires info, Ugg Australia did buy the rights to the name Ugg a few years ago which was appealed by the Australian manufacturers, they won and Deckers rights to the name were removed. http://www.legalbrief.co.za/article.php?story=20060131082907702

  • Hi,

Is the 20% off at Shudoo still working? (MSE178)

Do I need to order on the phone?

After looking high and low on ebay for genuine uggs I'm favouring Shudoo.
