I have made this point before.
Reference is & will continue to be made to boots that are not the deckers brand of Uggs to be fake.
I don't think it will ever change.
I actually don't care too much about the label or logo. If/when these kind of boots were/are not in fashion I would still be wearing them.
I had my first ones last winter & have added to my collection since. I pair are of the deckers variety & the others are different manufacturers. They are all lovely & they are all my genuine Uggs = Sheepskin boots!
I shall be wearing them next winter & winters thereafter, I love not having cold feet!
Hear! Hear! :T
I love my [generic] UGG boots
I can positively say I am a fashionable person, but I am not a fashion victim
But what I certainly am is a MSE :money:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Cage, to some extent what you are saying is correct, but there is a lot of hoo ha over the Ugg name and who owns it.
Ugg is a generic term for the style of boot. They were being made in Australia for several years and worn by surfers. Then along came Deckers, worn by somebody famous and their label took off, making them 'the' label everybody wants, but along with that label came a whopping price tag!
If an Ugg boot is made in that style of real sheepskin upper and wool lining then they are an Ugg boot. They are not 'fake' but just an alternate brand. People who are not label conscious are getting just as good quality buying alternate brands from some companies but do risk them being regarded as fake when others see them, but they are not fakes just a lower more affordable label.
Lets not forget the Ugg originated in Australia hand made by family owned businesses and then along came Deckers who moved their manufacture to China and wiped out a lot of Aussies production. Because of this many Australians will only wear Uggs made in Australia and will not buy Deckers out of principle. I have a friend who searched high and low for Deckers Uggs in Oz and could only find them at the airport.
The sites you quote are selling 'fake' Deckers Uggs and they are the ones to be avoided.
Deckers start their Kids Ugg boots from around £85 compared to a company like Grommies selling the same quality boot for £24.99 sometimes there is an obvious reason why not to buy Deckers, in the case of kids boots they are hugely overpriced. My daughter is 17 months old and has the Ugg baby Boo which retail at around £40 (i got a much better deal of course)but once she goes into the bigger size range I would seriously feel I would be a complete nut to spend £85 on Deckers boots, (even with a code on shudoo they would be £65) when the Next version look just as good on kids and cost £13. I doubt people would be shouting 'fake' at her in the street.
It is all down to personal preference, you like me only feel happy buying the Deckers Ugg Australia boot, but others are not so worried about the label.
As for Deckers owning the right to the name Ugg, I think they should make more effort to stop the counterfeit copies of their actual brand label before worrying about Australian companies making the boots they have made for years and using the name which actually stands for the boot they are making!
There isnt really any ho ha over who owns the Brand of Ugg/Ugg Australia, Deckers owns it. My words have been twisted slightly, I have never said a Style of Ugg boot is a fake. This is actually what I said.. "Every boot that has Ugg or Ugg Australia branded onto them have to be Deckers genuine or they are fakes. They may be nicely made, they may have been around for a long time, but if they are not genuine Ugg Australia by Deckers they are not real" I also never mentioned anything about getting less quality, as you will read here, this is what I said "There may be Ugg style of boots that are very well made and what you or some people are looking for, and I never said you sacrificed on quality" Also, I hadnt forgotten Australia is where Ugg's originated from, this is what I said "Yes Australia were making Ugg's before Deckers bought the brand over" I'm not really sure who's post you have been replying to, but its really confusing as your not replying to anything I have said really.
You keep mentioning Ugg boots, I hope a lot of people read this part of this post. Deckers own the word Ugg and the Ugg Australia brand. There are no boots on this planet that can use the word UGG or Ugg Australia apart from Deckers. There is no such thing as an Ugg boot not made by Deckers, yes there are sheepskin boots in similar style to Ugg's, heck 90% of them are the same style, maybe even better quality, maybe even the same quality, but they are NOT Ugg boots.
Out of interest Mookie, if you have time, could you possibly show me a website that sell's Ugg boots that are not branded UGG or UGG Australia. In this website you find for me, it should specifically state that they are Ugg boots.0 -

I'm not Mookie but I can certainly answer your question. The term Ugg is not owned by Deckers at all and indeed there are companies that produce Ugg botts outside of Deckers UGG Australia brand, which is they only name they copyrighted.

This company was producing sheepskin Ugg boots long before Deckers even existed!
And no, they are not FAKE boots before you even dare suggest it“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

None of these are Ugg Australia 'Deckers' owned.

Your bookmarked list is much bigger than mine mookie
:rotfl:
To be honest, I struggled to find any of those you've listed (couldn't remember the exact urls) due to all the crap fake sites that have popped up lately!
No wonder so many people turn up here asking if this or that site is legitimate these days <sigh!>“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
