  • I ordered some UGG boots from Snug Australia for my daughter for xmas - apparently they were posted on 22nd October but no sign of them yet. I have contacted Snug Australia twice by email to see if they can track the delivery but they haven't bothered to reply.

.................. they have now arrived (a few weeks later) but never mind - although snug australia still didn't respond to my emails.
  • I've been following this thread for a few weeks now and decided to eventually order some Tall Chocolate uggs from REI. i've not received them yet, but have just had to pay a £45 custom charge!

Have still got a bargain in comparison to the £200 sole trader wanted, but probably wouldnt have ordered them if i'd known the size of the customs charge :(

On the plus side, the boots finally arrive tomorrow, and by the sounds of it i'll have a gorgeous pair of geniune boots to keep my feet nice and snug this winter! :j
  • OMG:eek: £45
    when did you order them?
that seems alot compared to what some of the others had to pay? (i might be wrong i just dont remember it being that much!)
  • forgot to say :o ...how did they notify you about the charge...did you get a letter?
  • I've just updated myself on this site & am very amused that so many sad suckers fall victim to the advertising hype & continue to buy like sheep - oops!!

It's simply marketing propaganda that Deckers Uggs are the 'real thing' & all other Uggs are fake!

'Ugg' is a generic name - like baked beans or wellington boots! 'Ugg' is a totally Australian concept - Deckers is an American company who hijacked the Ugg name & have since tried to put the Aussie companies out of business.

Will someone please explain to me therefore, how a boot which is made in China, by a US company, can be called genuine??!!

If you haven't already done so, check out:

Meanwhile, fashion victime continue to fall prey to Deckers advertising campaigns, and pay excessive prices for boots made from low quality skins.

There are much better quality Uggs out there - 100% genuine Australian at more affordable prices! Personally, I wouldn't consider wearing Deckers 'Ugg Australia' brand as I prefer to show a bit more individuality (difficult I know as Uggs are Uggs, but I don't want to be tagged as an advertising victim!).

I buy from a store in Camden which sell excellent quality Jumbo Uggs (from Oz) which are much thicker & softer than Deckers & also machine wash! I just bought a Tall Chocolate pr & checked them against Deckers - no contest! They were also cheaper than last year, only £120!!

You keep your label & I'll stick to GENUINE AUSTRALIAN UGGS!!!

PS: You can see my Ugg boots here:

We established that way way back on this thread - please keep up.

No doubt you can substantiate this "fact"?

You are wearing ugg boots - you are the same as the rest of us.

  • Monkeysarereallyfunny. I did not intend to argue for the authenticity of your boots. Various vague and conflicting responses from Deckers have been obtained and are in the thread, and it was Martin’s information from them that encouraged many of us to order.
Indeed many were perfectly happy with Aussie Direct if the quality was right. But you and several others are very unhappy with the quality, and a much larger number have also found the customer service very poor. Overall it’s certainly not worth risking.

If they they’re fakes, are they illegal? Is it an offence if they are bought in Australia legally where the trademark isn’t recognised?

Having gone through all this however, I conclude that, in my view, the uGg boots aren’t the ‘genuine’ article anyway; they’re just a marketing nonsense - an American owned brand, made by Chinese sub-contractors.

I have bought expensive Sheffield cutlery. It has tradition, heritage and a history of craftsmanship, all built-in. http://www.williamturnersheffield.com/html/history.php

The uGg brand isn’t like this. Celtic Sheepskin has a much better claim to authenticity, but surely only Australasian made uggs can really be the genuine article?

However, Mummy says Daughter must have the label for xmas, so it’s Hartings uGgs for us. Where can I get a box though?
  • what a nightmare. i ve just received a bill from parcelforce for £68 vat, duty and parcelforce fee for 2 x pairs uggs from rei. holy cow, i was expecting about £20. i called customs and excise who, get this, advised me its 17 1/2 % vat and import duty as they are "plastic waterproof boots". i said hold on they re not plastic or waterproof and she said "are they uggs?". i said indeed and she informed me uggs have been classified as WELLINGTONS by customs and these charges are valid.i was hopin theyd made a mistake lol. have paid charges and getting boots 2morro but feel sick at the thought of what these boots have cost. at least i know theyre genuine though unlike my a.d. feet dyeing "sheepskin" shedding fakes!

sorry for the rant its guilt at spending so much

  • I ordered the boots on the 31st October, so they've arrived pretty quickly. I e mailed REI for a tracking number and have been tracking them on line, so knew they were stuck with customs from that. Called parcelforce yesterday to try and pay the customs charge but apparently had to wait for the letter .

Letter arrived this morning with the charges broken down as:
    £14.59 Import Duty
    £17.58 V.A.T
    £13.50 Parcelforce clearance fee

Think the reason my charge is higher than the others is that my boots are adult and the tall type. Bit peeved to be paying all these charges, especially the parcelforce fee, but desperate for my boots!

And on an additional note i don't care if i'm falling for the hype! I want Ugg Australia boots as i know they fit and are good quality! They'll make me happy, so i don't care if i'm some commercial sucker! :j
