I received an email this morning from Aussiedirect saying the boots are genuine, that I am welcome to exchange them for chocolate ones as they are made in china but at my expense. I'm guessing they expect me to cover return postage and the cost of UPS delivery of the new pair, meaning a cost of £25 minimum! They are saying they will not refund any postage as the boots are genuine deckers boots.

Then I have an email from UGG australia saying that they do still have production in Australia for boots sold in Australia, although they said they cannot confirm online retailers are selling genuine items and suggest using one of their stockists, so the boots could be ok but not of the quality we are used to seeing in our shops!

I dont know what to do with mine, I prefer the china made ones but if i return them its gonna cost loads.

Mine cost just short of £10 to return without the box.

Are they charging you for sending the chocolate ones to you instead?

Mookie what size are yours and are they the short chestnut? Or have I got that wrong?
  • Well my moneysaving tip is if you want the chocolate colour boots get them from Aussie Direct as they are definitely definatively absolutely 100% originals and don't listen to anyone who says all their boots are fake.

If you want any other colourway then first go down to your local shoe shop and see how the stitching is on the chestnut boots (the lining looks like it's trying to escape) so you don't get a nasty surprise from AD.

They are different but it's up to you if you want to believe what Martin was told from the Ugg press office, what some of us have been told from Ugg and the possibility (probability) that AD have old stock made from the dogends before they upped off to China.

If you want chestnut/ black/ sand boots identical to those currently sold here then no, don't get them from AD.

We're getting the delivery of that new black size and a chestnut for someone else tomorrow - I'll post up pics off all 3 showing the difference (and similarities) so y'all can make up your own minds....

Sorry to keep going on, but has anyone actually had any TALL boots in either Chestnut or Chocolate that had the "Made in China" label in them rather than being made in Australia?

    Thanks.
My chocolates have the china label, I think Pudding and Ety have those aswell.
  • silly of me to think that royal mail have sent me my boots. I have the pics of what the boots look like on the site that i ordered mine from. wait and see I guess. so confusing all this. want nice boots but trying to save money at the same time

This is great advice, i just want to apologise to you Paphos gooner about the info from UGG Australia as they have now told me they do have some made in australia which are only sold in Australia, if this is true Aussiedirect could be getting stock from them, Aussiedirect also emailed me a picture of the big box they get their boots in with Deckers details on.

I have emailed Aussiedirect and said it would be of help to highlight the boots are different depending on colour so people know before ordering what they are buying.

They admitted the chocolate boots may be more suited to what I wanted so as Paphos gooner said, if you buy from there be aware of the colours and the differences because I truly believed these boots were fake and now I am finding that they most likely are just a lower grade than I expected.

I am seriously considering writing an ebay review to change this info about australian boots being fake as that made me even more suspicious!
    what do you guys think?

Go for it - the Aussie label was (and is) a big issue. What about the soles as well coz I think mine look like the ones listed on ebay as fakes?

I'm in the midst of writing to AD asking them to swap sizes for me and debating on whether to ask for Chocolates instead as well but like you said I don't want to have to pay 2 lots of shipping.

Wish I'd just brought them over here - don't think I'll go overseas again!!
