    Here's some statistics for you

As you have so few immigrants in your town, I'm sure " bloody foreigners" is a frequent topic of conversation as you'll have very narrow experiences . The poor education attainments your associates have gained: quote
.." has a high level of residents with either no qualifications or qualifications equal to 1 or more GCSE at grade D or below, than the national average. "

This is not the fault of the foreigners in your midst but purely your own.

Statistically also "..has a higher level of residents born in the UK than the nahe UK Census of 2011. .. has a higher level of residents born in the UK than the national average and a lower rate of residents either born in other EU countries or outside the EU, it does not have a significant immigrant population.tional average and a lower rate of residents either born in other EU countries or outside the EU, it does not have a significant immigrant population."

Not sure why you need to resort to insults or portray those quoting factual information to be some sort of racists, no doubt to disguise the poor quality of your argument. I didn't grow up around here so cannot comment on education, but it is well known that schools in Derbyshire have among the lowest amount spent per head on them in the UK, therefore with children soon to start school I would love that £1 billion pounds to be directed in to education instead.
Derby itself has a very high level of immigration and my business deals with NHS, and they have a huge struggle trying to balance the books, which is getting harder each year resulting in a number of key services particularly to the elderly being closed down and moved elsewhere. Not some racist rant, but a fact.
  • Some refugee's who arrived in Germany, took boats over to Denmark, but not happy with refuge in Germany or Denmark they are now marching towards Sweden to claim asylum, although the Danish police are attempting to stop them. Many are asking to go to Sweden to be with relatives that live there.

If you had lost your home and your country, wouldn't you want to join your family in Sweden? Refugees aren't another species; they are people like us who once had stable peaceful lives like us until war broke out. Anyway surely all the Little Englanders should be happy if they want to go to Sweden
  • Do you mean goodby to the country that previously gave sancturay to the huguenots at the beginning 18th Centuary, Jews fleeing persecution in Russia in the 19th century, and later Jews from Nazi occupied Europe, Ugandan Asians after Idi Armin kicked out some of the most productive people his county contained.

There are many more historical examples that illustrate that the UK has acted in a generous manor to the persecuted in the past, and I'm glad that we are still capable of such generousity.
But I guess at that time we weren't having an influx of 330k net immigration per year.

I have no issues in assisting the refugees but alot more people would feel more ok if we weren't allowing mass immigration anyway.

I don't have any problem saying good bye to the UK as we know it, if it's just going to stand for the bigotry and insularity of much of what is posted here.

Britain is a prosperous country and could afford to offer sanctuary to the desperate people, who regardless of what their religion is, are our fellow human beings. The reason we are underfunded in education, the NHS etc is because of the greed of people like the bankers, the multi nationals who don't pay tax and those who could afford to pay higher taxes but would rather pay accountants to help them avoid/ evade it.

My Dad fought in WW2 to preserve freedom and justice and humanity not to pull up the drawbridge on those who need our help.
    What's our debt again?

And why don't you offer to pay 5% more tax than you do now, I doubt you could not afford it and it might show you do more than you preach?

    No, there.

You seem to forget that we're part of the EU, so "here" is the appropriate word.

Please do not refer to me as a 'Little Englander' just because I am concerned about an influx of refugee's coming into Europe or our country without adequate checks being carried out. I am all for people being allowed to integrate into our country and society whether they be migrants or refugees. I am however concerned about security and how 'we' are going to afford to help all these people.

I would love nothing more than to enter Sweden to live, but I like many others would have to go through the proper channels. Therefore, what makes refugees any different?

Do you mean I pay an extra 5% personally or everyone does?
Actually I would be happy to pay more tax to fund NHS, education, humanitarian aid etc. obviously not bailing out bankers, subsidising tax-dodger multi nationals etc. also not to have to subsidise low wages through the benefits system. I know tabloids have made socialism a dirty word but clause 4 pretty much summed it up. Why not help when you can instead of being selfish?
