Good thing about Figleaves is that, if you can spare the money while you have the items, you can order several sizes to have a good try on (always easier at home too). They have a free returns policy. Different brands definitely do vary ... x

    Hi All,

You dont have to pay more if your a size 10 or 20, nor do you have to pay more if you opt for shorter or longer lengths? So why should I have to pay more because I have a larger cup size? Makes no sense at all!

Quite a few of the mail order catalogues have higher prices for longer lengths and/or larger sizes, so it's not a Universal Truth.

Correct on the material aspect, but as the OP states, you don't pay more for larger clothes sizes.

Completely wrong on the demand side. Lots of women have big boobs, and much bigger than an F cup! x

Fair enough, I'll pay more attention to big boobs in the future.

and https://www.brastop.com does lots of big bras cheaply! they have shops in london but their mail order worked well for me.

you can also get big bras in the 'jordan' range at asda - not sure they're particularly good quality, but they are a lot cheaper. i agree that the best bargains are on ebay!!

  • If you live within driving distance of Desborough then I recommend the bra shop there which is a factory outlet for freya, fantasie and rigby& peller bras.

Contessa shops. I am 32F and bought nice supportive bras from there for £16 (their own Figura range), they were doing an offer at the time - buy two for £20. It's very well made and I even machine wash it (in one of those little net bags). I've had them for almost 12 months, wearing them turn about with a total of 4 bras, and it's still in pristine condition. Unfortunately the shop near me has now closed down but you can buy online.

Sorry to go against the norm but I think it's fair that they charge more for larger sizes. They clearly use more material to make these bras. I'm a 32E and use M&S or La Senza, have no problem paying a little extra for good fitting bras.

As for your point re clothes pricing. I think they should charge more for larger clothes, the way they do in children's sizes. I'm a size 8 and bought a dress the other day. Looking at the same dress in size 22, it's obvious at least twice as much material is used so why shouldn't it cost a little bit more?

I know where you are coming from (38JJ before I got pregnant - looking for maternity bras was a mare!)

However, try ebay. There are shops that do new lingerie, up to that size and you are only paying around £15 for the bigger sizes. I have found the shops very helpful, reasonable and good quality.

And to all those ladies who wish they had a bigger bust - just remember that the cheapest bra I have managed to get in the last ten years was around £15 (inc postage from ebay!) And you wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a choice! Sometimes bigger is not always better.
    Always another chapter
