Marks and Spencer

Hi All,

I have been viewing this site for a while not but today the above named made my blood boil so I have to get it of my chest!!!

I have what you would call plus sized boobs so many retailers do not cater for my size.
A friend recommended M & S as they have a very good range in their DD+ sizes. So I went there today and found that because I am bigger then a DD I have to pay £2 more for the same bra!

I couldn't belive it - I have never been to another store and been charged more for having an ample bust. £2 is alot of money for me personally but I had to pay out because I struggle so much to get a decent fitting bra. I have written to M & S and will post their response here.

In the meantime if you know of a retailer that goes up to F cups and the prices are reasonable please let me know because I will not be going to M & S again!

You dont have to pay more if your a size 10 or 20, nor do you have to pay more if you opt for shorter or longer lengths? So why should I have to pay more because I have a larger cup size? Makes no sense at all!

I feel really strongly about this and will probably be ranting about it all week but I am so so annoyed by it!!

    Hi bargainbecks,

    Welcome to MSE!

Firstly, an F cup is not plus sized, it is probably about average if people got properly measured!

    You have several options:

Bravissimo(sp?!) are fantastic. Trust me, half an hour in there and you will discover that you are nothing out of the ordinary, and quite possibly wearing the wrong size.

Debenhams go up to an F or FF in their Gorgeous range.

Figleaves.co.uk have plenty of selection in all sizes.

I wouldn't buy a larger bra from M&S anyway. I have only ever found one there that offered me anywhere near the support I need (I don't want to get saggy boobs!).

If M&S offered the 'engineering' that some of the brands offer to give extra support, then I would have no problem paying extra. But I find they are just larger versions of the smaller sizes x

Figleaves are brilliant, and they are on Quidco - 11% cashback.

  • Thanks for the replies but Bravissimo is out of my price range - had a look at thier sale range and theirs nothing left in my size. Will have to be more on the ball next time thier sale comes round.
This is really getting me down my chest keeps getting bigger and bigger and I can not afford the correct type of bra to ensure they have enough support - plus its not very flattering wearing a bra to small!

I will keep looking - am going to go through all the sales...I did find a beautiful bra today in Debenhams sale - was £30 got it for £9.

More material and less demand I suppose.

Figleaves do have cheaper bras, Naturana ones start at £11, or the Berlei ones for about £15.

My boobs keep getting bigger as well, makes it very expensive to keep replacing bras!

One thing you can do is try on some branded (Freya, Berlei etc) bras to make sure you know what size to get, and then buy them off ebay. I got a lovely Panache one for £12! x

Correct on the material aspect, but as the OP states, you don't pay more for larger clothes sizes.

Completely wrong on the demand side. Lots of women have big boobs, and much bigger than an F cup! x

  • I've been to La Senza - been measured twice - tried on nearly every style and size and still found nothing to fit.

Will try Figleaves as they sent me a really helpfull fitting guide, will also look into the Ebay buying also.

    Thanks for your help!

I feel sure you will be fine with Figleaves. The Quidco cashback pays up even if you have to send the bra back, so you can't lose. Make sure you sign up to Quidco and go via them to order. (Let me know if you don't know what I'm on about).
