Money Moral Dilemma: Who should pay for my non-refundable concert tickets?

What a pointless thread so soon after the last one. I've never read a Money Moral Dilemma and recognised the source of the problem before. Seeing the vague summary given here in comparison to the original detail provided will make me view Money Moral Dilemmas a little differently in future...0

Most people however would consider refusing to attend their sister's wedding (in the MSE rehash they conveniently missed that fairly vital bit of info but it's in the OP) to go to a pop concert rude.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Are you serious?
She shouldn't pay anything. It's a birthday gift that she now doesn't want so you either find someone to go with or sell the tickets on Ebay.
In future just don't buy her any more gifts!0 -

I would presume that if the tickets were that expensive, the band would be A-list and the tickets in great demand. If it were my favourite band I would be there like a shot. It would certainly take precedence over some tedious wedding. I really can't see the attraction of weddings or the idea that attending them trumps anything else.:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -
A "suprise birthday gift" which she doesn't want and you expect her to pay for it,how come? You can easily sell both on ebay or outside concert, possibly even making a profit.Next time take the easy option and buy her some shoes or something.Spending this amount for a band you don't even like tells me your loaded so stop moaning.0

Would you have been offended if your sibling had said they preferred to attend a pop concert rather than your wedding ? I suspect most people would be.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
