Wednesday 2nd September 2015 - What small debt free things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important!

Morning Gang
Well not a very nice start to the day. My phone went off at 4am, & it was the alarm service ringing for the shop as it was going off down there. Consisdering we pay £50 a month to have that place monitored, the information you get is not great for putting the mind at rest.
It was a one sensor alert which SHOULD mean that it isnt someone inside, as if there were someone inside it would trip off all the sensors due to movement. However, this is exactly the same circumstances as when the break in happened earlier this year.
So anyway having called them all they could say is, can you send someone over to have a look? Er thats me then 35 week pregnant lady cycling at night anyone? Or my husband...
So husband drew the short straw. My heart was in my mouth till he called 20 mins later & said he was there and couldnt see anything.
He reset the panel & is now home, so bit of a non story thank god.
However, it does worry & frighten me these things happen. When they did break in, they forced the door, which cost me £250 to have replaced as the police called an emergency lock smith, plus they stole my cash till!!! I didnt make a claim, as with the ongoing claim that was happening at the time, it was peanuts compared to what I was dealing with.
But it just makes me feel so vunerable.
Anyway, I have tea, & Im tired. Husband has made it home safe. Praying we dont get anymore of these phantom trips as we only had an engineer out on Friday last week to make a change to the system, & if its some kind of fault, then we simply dont need these middle of the night calls to terrify us!
So I shall say, good morning, good noon & good night! Not sure which is appropriate for this time of day

Poor you and Mr Bob, Bob! Glad that it was nothing serious. Easier said than done, but try not to worry too much, no good for you and Bobbette. Worrying about whether a situation is going to happen doesn't prevent it from happening just robs you of peace of mind. I've made a pot of coffee, want one? :coffee: xDF as at 30/12/16

Ok ready to think about my day ahead after a couple of cups of coffee! 7 O'clock and the house is still asleep. Need to get on in a minute which means dgd will wake. Today is the first day of dgd going to the CM 2 days a week instead of 5, she's going to go Tuesday's & Thursday's so today is our first day.
Plans for today:
* checked banking
* Did some admin around self employed stuff I'm doing. Just need to get some wallets/sleeves to keep all the paperwork and a little bit more recording of expenses (for the ms stuff)
* emailed bff with some ideas for Ibiza - things I'd like to do but don't cost the earth!
Still to do:
* put a load of washing on - need to do this quick so I can get it on the line by the time I need to leave at 8.15
* Going to a bootfair this morning
* Vacuum house when we get back
* post ebay sales
* go and post 2 parcels before oh leaves for work. They're big and I won't get them and dgd in the car!
* email buyer as there is a problem with something I sold. Somehow it was listed as being from principals but it isn't! It's still lovely but want to confirm with buyer before sending and it ends up being a problem
* read martin's email
* check onepoll - am determined to get the £40 payout this month. Is it doable? I have £36 already
* received £5 reward from bank account
* list 4 things to ebay and do a job search this evening
* contact friend and cancel her babysitting this evening as oh has a job interview tomorrow so wants to spend the evening preparing
* take £10 out of dgd's cb account for activities this week
* meeting dd and taking dgd swimming this afternoon. Probably will treat us all to a drink and a cake at a cafe afterwards
Ok that's all I think I'll get done. Better get my skates on! xDF as at 30/12/16

Oooh it's Wednesday already!
Had my hair cut at home yesterday, hair dresser was fabulous and I'm really pleased with the cut. Cost me £23 which is much cheaper than my usual £45! So I will be doing that every 8 weeks instead of a salon.
Doing a fast day today so just shakes except I forgot and have eaten 2 polos already, but I'm sure they aren't many calories!
Also very happy I am now the Complaint Queen having made over £120 from complaining recently. Firstly when Halifax didn't reply to my letter they gave me £50, then Experian gave me back £16 for missold insurance in the past, and now Southern Water are issuing me a £60 cheque due to their 'mistake' they overcharged me (so I guess I paid a bit a few years ago) though £15 of that was a goodwill payment. All done through Resolver which I highly recommend.
£50 is already gone though (owed money to a friend so it worked out well). £16 was issued straight back to CC so has remained there and £60 will probably go half towards laptop fund and half towards credit card.
I'm a tad worried about a cheque payment on my account. I paid in a £50 cheque on Saturday. It showed up on my bank statement on Sunday but set as 1st September (yesterday). I compared my balance on YNAB against my balance on my bank and my bank is exactly £50 down, so I figured it was the cheque. However, my bank account available balance is still £50 down. It shows 'balance' as £150 and 'available balance' as £100. I'm just hoping that although that cheque has been recognised it hasn't been paid into my account just yet... otherwise I'm £50 down0
