OK mid range tyres?

I've just looked at that website and the tyres i have (YU61) are £39 each plus £6.98 shipping which equals £84.98 so that means i paid £15.02 for fitting. That seem's reasonable to me and is less than the £10 per tyre they would charge if i got my own. I checked around quite a few different tyre fitters and that was the best price of them all.0 -

I agree, You buy from camskill and get it fitted from an indies, there are two companies taking a cut for their profit. You get the tyre and fitting from the same place and you only have 1 company making a profit therefore you get a better deal.
Im based in London and fitting only services are pretty damn expensive.
Here are some options from mytyres. place1 is a micky mouse operation, forget that. The rest are typical of London tyre fitting prices.

is from £ 5.00(price includes only fitting). no balancing facilities.
Plus disposal of the old tyre(s) (if required) £ 1.00

place3:The mounting price per tyre (which includes removing the old tyre, a new

There are very few genuinely poor tyres these days.
Just been to Africa and being easily bored in traffic jams looked around at the tyres on several LGVs
Apart from a relaxed attitude to tread depth I noticed and awful lot of strangely named Chinese brands, there were also advertising boards everywhere for Chinese tyre brands.
And the roads are an awful lot worse than UK roads, though speeds were sometimes lower than the UK on clear stretches of road many vehicles went as fast as they could go.
Chinese brands are, imho, at a similar stage to the Korean brands a few years ago.
Brands that I have found to be well priced and that I would buy again would include, Avon, Accelera, Nankang, Hankook, Kumho , BF Goodrich, Toyo and Vredestein.
More expensive brands would be Michelin, Good Year and Dunlop.
I wouldn't have Sava or Barum again.
I know of many working drivers that have used Nexen for hundreds of thousands of miles with no complaint.0 -
Or, for a few quid more than you paid for cheap-no-name rubbish, you could have had something worth buying. You could have had some of the very best tyres on the market for £50 each less than the price you were quoted.
Jinyu tyres may be a no name brand but i don't care about branded tyres for my car, i have no interest in paying extra for branded tyres. All i care about is how long they last and how they perform. I have been using Jinyu tyres since i got my car 3 years ago. They have never let me down and have more than enough grip for my driving style in that car. They have also lasted on average around 22,000 miles per tyre. They would go farther but i always like to change my tyres sooner rather than later. To me that is very good for the price.
So why would i want to change to a different tyre or pay any amount more when these tyres do exactly what i need them too.0 -

Which is exactly why using off-brand tyres is a false economy.I have been using Jinyu tyres since i got my car 3 years ago.
So you have no idea how the car would behave or feel on decent tyres? They have never let me down and have more than enough grip for my driving style in that car.
Great - right up until you need to use full grip for emergency braking, and find out just HOW poor they really are.0 -

I don't think you seem to understand my point. I'm saying that i will not pay extra just to get a certain name on my Tyre wall. I have had brand name Tyre's in the past and they have not lasted any longer than these Tyre's do so that means I'm paying less and they last just as long.
With these Tyre's i have done an emergency stop to test my car and also in a real situation on the motorway when a car in front put the brakes on too hard and in both times i was happy with how they performed.
My previous car was a Subaru Impreza and my tyre of choice was the Pirelli P Zero which is a great tyre. But my for my Vauxhall Vectra that Tyre would be a waste of money.0
