Ebay Buyer Beware - Don't trust the feedback
Comments
-
leaving a neutral was what i would consider to be the right thing to do. the buyer completed her side of the contract and only made an enquiry about changing the item, i presume making no demands. should have been a positive.
by rights a positive fedback should be left when you got extremely good service - ie. good contact, courtious, quick delivery, well packed, quick payment etc. a neutral when things were just ok - in this case the goods, delivery etc wera all good but the customer service aspect (in terms of wording of the reply) was missing so a neutral would be right. and a neg when something the buyer/seller has done wrong.
i had an experience on ebay buying a set of alloy wheels, describe as excellent condition, i emailed asking for details of the condition, was told signs of age but no kerbing/scuffing. bid up to the price i felt they were worth and won. went ot collect them and they were less than excellent, the seller admitted he hadn't got the time to touch them up, all 4 had been kerbed and scuffed. so i agreed to take them at lower price. the seller kept blaming his wife for doing the listing etc and answering emails.
i then left a neutral as the goods were not as described (negative) but he had came ot an agreement (positive). he then neged me saying i bid up then came and haggled. but he agreed at the time that the goods were not as described!!!The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

Feedback is voluntary, there is no obligation to leave it at all.
I mentioned on another thread that I fear I have picked up another stalker as my auctions on a minor id are being interfered with. I believe it to be a seller who hassled me constantly for feedback from the very first email asking for payment (when it had been made already) on an almost daily basis.
I told them that I had not left feedback as I could not in all honesty say my experience was good as I found the constant emails insisting i leave feedback a nuisance. She sent me a huge rant about that and how ebay will insist I leave her feedback...but I held back.
Now unaccountably my BIN auctions are all being won by newly registered buyers with no feedback, and whilst ebay are suspending these buyers (very quickly..certainly before I get round to complaining so I don't know what is going on?) it is causing me problems with so many auctions being lost to the market..I have had to go to BIN with immediate payment only on that ID just to try and stop it happening.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Why do buyers feel that by paying which is a requirement, that they deserve feedback??
I never leave feedback before the buyer because paying is not the end of the transaction - which if you read eBay guidelines on feedback, is when feedback should left.
(p.s I have never left a neg for a neg!!)
It is the end of my involvement ! After that as a buyer what other obligations do I have ? The financial transaction eg speed of , is really the only thing than the seller can comment on, so why delay ?0 -

Seriously? I declare thee a Troll and banish thee to the corner for being blinkered! Do you Really think any of these muppets deserve a positive?!

And now that neutrals are a further stick to beat sellers with, I'll be damned if I lose a second income because some idiot blames me for their postman being stupid.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

See how easily sellers can fall victim to deadbeat/suspo bidders...The money, Dave...0 -

ITS ALWAZE BEST TO WAIT 4 THE BUYER 2 LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST, AS IT TAKES 2 SECS TO CLICK A PAY AND SUBMIT BUTTON, BUT IT TAKES TIME 4 THE BUYER TO READ THE DESCRIPTION PROPERLY, OR 2 ASK ?? B4 THEY BID, + POSTAL DELAYS ETC R NOT ALWAZE THE SELLERS FAULT.0 -
No it isn't as a seller you would want to know that the buyer is happy with is purchase, or at least you should. The best way for this to happen is for the buyer to indicate that the transaction is complete and satisfactory by leaving feedback, then the seller knows all is well and can leave the buyer feedback.0

IF THE BUYER IS NOT SATISFIED THEY SHOULD CONTACT THE SELLER AND THE ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED SO THE BUYER IS LEFT HAPPY I DONT SEE THE POINT OF NEGGIN EM!0 -

Sorry but I don't agree, cheques can bounce paypal payments can be reversed. Feedback is meant to show the bigger picture and should be left after the buyer receives the goods and is satisfied with the transaction. On occasions I will leave feedback upon payment but only if the buyer actually asks or they are a regular customer.0 -
