Ebay Buyer Beware - Don't trust the feedback
Comments

It always annoys me as a buyer though, that once I have paid, I have fulfilled my side of the bargain and should be left positive feedback without any strings attached.0

Perhaps, but you are supposed to be leaving it about the transaction that took place. Not one you wished you had had but were too daft to! If they wanted a bigger size why bid on and buy the size they did and then complain?0 -
The OP is perfectly entitled to leave what feedback they felt appropriate, and after that sort of unnecessary response from the seller, I can understand why they were miffed! Their experience of the overall transaction was slightly disappointing, therefore a neutral was left - it reflected the lack of customer service and poor attitude of the seller. Fair comment?
OK, the OP maybe should have checked before bidding, but what harm is there in asking the question to change if the seller had other items? A polite, "Sorry, I can't change them now because.. blah blah" would have been more than an adequate response from the seller, but this was obviously too much trouble.
(and now everyone has ganged up on the newbie, it's unlikely they'll be back again with any further problems or advice..!)
Buyers accounts are disposable - collect a neg? Simply move to another. Again, another desperate flaw in the integrity of the feedback system.
The other alternative is not to leave feedback at all, or leave an impassively worded pos, but 0 rated stars - but these may be seen as a weak way out.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
By their own account they didn't 'complain', just made a courteous enquiry. If their account is factual there was no need at all for a strop in return.0

So a seller that posts out a item as described within a resonable time should be left a neutral?
They have fulfilled their part of the bargain as well.
OP - lets have a look at this aggressive email that was sent if you can?0 -
Why do buyers feel that by paying which is a requirement, that they deserve feedback??
I never leave feedback before the buyer because paying is not the end of the transaction - which if you read eBay guidelines on feedback, is when feedback should left.
(p.s I have never left a neg for a neg!!)....It's nice to be nice.....:D

I refer the honourable member to a post made some months ago - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=5446720#post5446720
It's an avenue you may not wish to pursue on MSE....!:rotfl:<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Exactly, I sell more than buy on ebay as well and some of the nonsense that you get from buyers is unbeliveble.
I recently sold a used electronic item a few months old and all perfectly described, didnt say it came with warranty or recept but fully working.
Buyer won it and a few days later asked for the receipt after he recieved it. Told him (nicely) i no longer have it and looks like he's gone in a strop and not left me feedback as he has left other sellers after mine feedback.
Unbelievable, and he got the item next day after payment.
By the way i havent left him feedback yet as i suspect he will give me a neutral if i did in regards to the reciept0 -

But surely you are obliged to leave a positive, because he did pay promptly after all.... What more did he have to do to earn it?...
<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

You probably would have got a positive if you hadn't gone ahead and soured the experience by leaving a neutral. The neg, which I agree was harsh and should have been only a neutral, was left to reflect the fact that you leave unwarranted feedback..which is part of the transaction. With my selling hat on I would prefer to know if buyer is in the habit of leaving less than positive feedback if they don't like the tone of my emails.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
