:rotfl:Been having a good old chuckle at this thread, together with the usual battled of the opinionated on here. Just one question:A learner driver approached from an on-ramp. Failed to merge with my lane.0

A good blast on the horn was called for.0

they have these signs in other non-uk places.
i do think this one might cause a bump.0 -
For those effectively saying "don't move out, they need to learn".
You wouldm't teach someone to obey the speed limit by lane hogging in front of them because it's not your job. So why would you feel the need to teach someone how to join a dc by staying in the lane they want?
Because we all know that different speedos can show different speeds, and like you say it's no-one's job to do either. And you're not driving obstructively like in the speed example.
In my post, I hopefully made clear that there's a gap somewhere for the merger to go into, they just have to find it. You're not giving them any more work than necessary, they just have to remember that it's necessary. There's actually not much point indicating,
I know what you mean Strider, but I still think there's every point in indicating for a lane change.
happyc84's pics - I don't like the top one - who has to give way?!
The bottom one makes it a bit clearer that no-one has 'right of way' and that both streams need to cooperate.0 -
I was taught to floor it and give it some coming off slip roads to get up to the speed limit (or as close as possible).
It meant i could potentially pull in front of other cars as i had enough speed where they didn't need to slow down for me, or if i couldn't do that i could slow down slightly and pull in behind them.
Seems i'm one of the few people that still do this. Most people come off slip roads around here at 40mph trying to join 70mph traffic then start beeping and flashing at people who don't slow down to let them out.All your base are belong to us.0
