i have a bad habbit of not taking lunch to work and ending up spending nearly £5 a day.

Shock tactic time! Assuming a 5 day week thats more then £1,100 a year on lunches!

    Hi Lunar,
When I read your SOA I thought 'who's worse off, me or them?!" I couldn't believe your loans etc but have realised the debt and payments are relative to your incomings and 3 days work per week so in comparison you are bit better off than me as I don't have extra I can pay off, so good luck!!
I'm going to do the snowball calculator once I've talked to my loan company and we'll see what my debt free date can become (but am a bit unsure I can work one out unless I can find money to overpay), so the race is on!
Also good on you for still working for the NHS!

my 3 days a week is full time, they are just very long days, 7-9.30. I think i would be too scared to leave the NHS at my age, people always say how hard it is to come back.

A portion of my loans was for fertility treatment, i know its expensive but it was the only option for me really, the NHS doesnt offer much.

Lunar, when I first did the snowball calculation my dfd was 91 months and I have already reduced this to 55. So having a dfd of 2012 to begin with is a really good starting point. I too used to spend £5 a day on my lunch at work and that was only for a sandwich, drink and some sort of snack! I cant believe how much money I have wasted!

Good Luck with your diary x

Today I have used the rest of my reclaimed bank charges and some of last months wage to pay off my store card. I cant wait to get the statement through with a zero balance.

Im undecided what to concentrate on paying off next. My barclay card only has £1980 left on it and I would love to pay it off for christmas, or at least try to. However the interest rate is higher on my mint card but the balance is £9510 and it seems like a never ending balance right now!

any suggestions would be greatly apriciated.

If it would make you feel better to pay off Barlcay's I would go for that one. If you can get rid of it quickly then you will be able to throw more money at Mint.

Sometimes it helps to get rid of the small ones as a motivational thing.

    Good luck

Well I went out to morrisons today, was going to take £50 cash and no card, didnt know if i could get all our food for that so i took £60.

I took a small trolley and decided to get everything to last until next payday (30th aug) My trolley was full and i wasnt even sure i had enough cash on me. Im so proud as it only came to £31.60

I didnt get any un-necessary toiletries and went for mostly morrisons own products. Im sure i could improve this more but its better than spending the same in M&S for 6 items!

I have also weighed myself today, I will post my weekly weight loss but im not brave enough to post my actual weight.

Good on you Lunar:T. it's a great feeling when you can get the cupboards filled for a fraction of the usual price. I'm really finding that for myself this month as well.
