I've been following this thread for a while and thank you for all the inspiration and idea's! Your all FAB!!! :T :T

Anyway I thought I'd add my list of things to do with the hope that it'll keep me motivated to complete my list!

5 sets of curtains that need lining (my lovely nan said she would do this for me so I just need to buy the lining)

We've got a terrible draft through our bedroom window so I've dug out some bubble wrap and I just need to cover the window with it.

We've all got slippers, just need to hunt the charity shops for a dressing gown for DD.

I've already brought a fleece blanket and hot water bottle for DD and we've already got them.

I need to get/knit the dogs a new blanket.

I need to stock the cupbords up a bit more when the basics.

I can't think of any thing else as yet, but I'm sure there will be more!!!

Its going to be a long winter!! It can`t still be august!!!! no way. Cool, dark mornings and evenings and oh so damp outside. Preparing for cold weather is the least of our worries but how to cope with the constant outside damp and the smell of leaf mould and soggy grass. It won`t be long before it tries to permeate into houses

I can`t see me getting to november without a short blast of heating twice a day and I think it will be necessary to keep the house nice and dry

I always run the ch for 10 minutes before the onset of winter, in case there are any problems and I think I`ll pick my time carefully this year so it helps to get at least one lot of washing dry

sammy kaye, a bit off topic, but what is the "feet to foot" rule:confused:

    Yeah Jim Jam got it

My midwife always told me to put Benji down with his feet at the foot of his bed so if he tried to wrigle down he couldnt go any further than that so blankets never came over his head etc. Worked a treat although ben often ended up sideways or with arms and legs stuck through the bars.

It is miserable here - still very wet and dark and dingy. Am not impressed. Someone told me yesterday in work that we are suppose to be expecting a bad winter - ie very cold, very uncomfortable and just bad news fullstop - oh dont i feel better knowing my list is slightly (albeit slowly) coming along. hoping once little monster is back to school (week tomorrow! :j ) that i cna really get my head downa dn get it all done
    Time to find me again

mine dont like casseroles done in the slow cooker either, until i did a chicken thing with soy sauce etc. and told them it was chinese!! another one i told them it was goulash. think of a fancy name and let them think it not a stew/casserole. worked a treat.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: This is exactly what I do as well, dd2 and dd3 don't have sausage casserole, they have sausages with veg and sauce! dd1 doesn't have beef in guiness, she has beef stew! dd3 won't eat baked beans, but will eat haricot beans in tomato sauce ;)

Fleeces and blankets have been great already, oh moaned it was cold and was given short sharp shrift by the kids, and firmly told to wear more than shorts and a t shirt :D

  • Think I must be the only person on MSE loving the cool weather at the minute. I am 38 weeks pregnant though and am actually spending a lot of my time sat on my patio in vest top and shorts :p. Am enjoying making my winter list cos it's getting me to imagine cold weather...heaven!:D

No Jess, you're not the only one. I am having a miserable time with hot flushes at the moment - while Mr LW says he's cold at night. Remedy: I just lie on the bottom sheet with no covers, and fold the duvet in half so that he has a double thickness. RESULT!!:p
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

For all you with LO's Just thought that I would let you know about these. I've just seen on the Tchibo website. They have them in pink as well I just linked to the blue for ease. I've pre-ordered dd a pair. Hoping they will be useful for the walk to nursery on rainy days.

Just bumping this as they have arrived today and I'm really impressed with the quality. DD is going to be warm and toasty on those wet nursery runs. Just a shame that they don't do them in adult sizes!

Jimjam's mum - have you tried a sleeping bag for the littlun? I didn't buy one for my daughter until she was about 9 months, but I really wish I'd bought one earlier, it was brilliant. She seemed to sleep anywhere in it, and I didn't have to worry about her pulling the covers over her head. I bought a "babygro" which are quite expensive, but I think most places sell them now.

I can really recommend those trousers. My girls have the coats too and they have been invaluable for cold damp days. They are very mud resistant too. ;)
