Went to turn on my slow cooker and wondered why it was not lighting up when the control knob fell into three bits in my hand!!!!
The lid was getting wonky as the knob for that was also falling to bits so I have ordered a new MR 6.5 litre one from Amazon for £27 and free delivery.
It should have been around £40 so convinced DH it was a good buy.
I really use the slow cooker every day in winter to make soups or stew so do not want to be without it.
Hi elona
This is the slow cooker that I have, and I absolutely love it. I wouldn't be without it. I have a bit of a reputation in my house for buying electrical things and then putting them in a cupboard never to be seen again, so my hubby was pretty sceptical too ... but now he loves it too0 -

It really feels autumnal here at the moment. I found myself reaching for winter blankets earlier. Although it is still August, albeit relatively late August, the temperature feels like early October. The ivy has started changing colour outside and there is a cold snap in the air, particularly last night when I put my head out of my front door and realised that the temperature has really dropped from what it was several weeks ago.0

Is it me but I don't recall a summer like this? so will it be a mild winter then?

I'm trying to resist temptation and not put the heating on early as well. Just big fleecy blankets and warm drinks etc. The nights are drawing in here. I;m based in Northamptonshire.0

feet to foot rule, I think is when you put your child with their feet at the bottom of the bed, so they don't wiggle under the covers to reduce cot deaths.
but jimjam sleeps width ways!! I am for ever finding him with his legs out of his cot.0 -

That was to be my rule of thumb as well, but we had to light the fire last week. It was only on for a few hours, and it was just free firewood, so it wasn't too costly, but it really was needed. I don't think having so much wet washing hanging around in the living room was helping either.
I'm getting the fire serviced next week, so I'm really hoping that will make it more economical to run this year. I've told hubby, I am only filling the bunker once this year (it was 3 times last year) and it's his responsibility to make sure we have enough firewood to make the coal last us.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0
