Thanks for the ideas for a car box. We always keep a blanket, socks and gloves in the boot but I have a few more ideas now. And in terms of cars in the snow I was so glad we have our little Volvo when the snow came this year. We were "stranded" atop a hill in Cumbria when the snow descended very quickly, so much so that the road just disappeared from in front of us. The car basically took over and the little display told us what to do and got us down the hill safe and sound *phew*. We lived somewhere very hilly at the time and DH managed to get him and a work colleague home when other cars (including some 4x4's) were stranded at the side of the road. Although I guess you could also argue that maybe DH is just insane to not just pull over and eat the Kendal mint cake in the glove box.0

OH put the duffel coats in for dry cleaning, they're ready to go too.
That sounds so sweet. Love it! LOL
Don't think we've ever been so organised in our lives & it's in no small measure due to the advice you guys have been putting out over the last few months. Can't thank you all enough.

Since I laid the fire in the stove, ready for when I couldn't bear the grey and wet a minute longer, we've had lovely warm sunny days!:D Perhaps I should have done it much earlier in the year!!:rotfl:
I don't mean to upset anyone but I LOVE the Autumn & Winter and I deliberately try and get really cold feet before going to bed just for the joy of putting them on a hot water bottle. OH thinks I'm nuts:o0 -
Yes athome1, I have to agree with your OH, I think you're nuts! :rotfl:0

hello - I love this thread - but it is keeping me busy with so many ideas! I am taking advantage of the warm sunny weather and have washed all my baby/pram blankets read to keep my toddler warm and cosy this autumn and winter. I have also washed our snuggle blankets, throws and car blankets.0

Hmmm, well now we know who to blame for the weather! Next year could you lay your fire at the beginning of May and leave it until the end of September please? :rotfl:
And yes the cold feet thing is one of the nuttier things I have read on MSE!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Ooooh I wouldnt mind living there ! We have a lot of places like that up here but we have more buses- people either get picked up at the bus stop or leave a bicycle in the old railway line behind the bus stop.
It only takes me ten to fifteen minutes from home in town to my friend's place in my car . It would be impossible for me to walk or cycle, too far, no pavements, very fast roads. And I'm running out of steam.
I wouldn't want to live there, it's constantly colder than here in town and with a wind like a knife most of the year. There is literally no large land mass between her hill and the Ural mountains. Lovely views though.0 -
She must live near me then LOL! we have no pavements = but a wee windey slow country road. its always colder here, almost 1000ft up. I often used to get off the bus with wellies and coat on, to find all the people wearing sandals and tshirts. You dont half feel silly !0

Well that makes it offical then, my OH and 2 posters on here think I'm nuts! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
