Great list Mennie - you seem super-organised!

I wonder am I spending too much time on this thread cos I just realised that last night I dreamt I bought a load of rice to make a microwavable rice bag.:o
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

It's been feeling autumnal here too. My girls are putting themselves to bed at 9.15 now, last week it was 9.30/9.45. Also, I've noticed that the leaves on one of the pear trees in the top field are turning orange already and the blackberries are about a month early.

The blackberries are ripening here too and some are ready now - which I thought was a bit early too

I've written down one list for food and stuff prep and I'm now going to alter it to scale it down like the one above and then make a start on seeing what I need to get in over the next couple of months

Plus I stocked up with 2 boxes of suet today as I couldn't find any last winter for dumplings and I'm going to make sure I get some more flour in next week before it starts disappearing off the shelves!

Already have dried yeast in so can make bread if it comes to it!

I am a Southern hemisphere baby and, after 11 years in the UK, still find it very difficult to cope with the cold and the dark.:(

Me too... I've been here 10 years and though I am very settled and very happy... I miss proper summers that last forever! I think that is the only thing really that makes me truly homesick.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Top of my list for Winter this year just has to be a Big bag of dried Dog food. Got caught out in the New year when the ice was so bad and couldnt get out

Dog thought it was his birthday and Christmas again when I had to feed him on chops chicken and share my very precious, reduced, joint of Roast beef. He had a sulky few days when he was put back on the dried stuff.

I have been looking for thermal socks too. I have some I bought years ago, they are brilliant, but have not been abe to find any like them since. They were socks I wear inside my boots over a thin pair of cotton socks, they are brilliant when its very cold in the winter. I suffer from bad circulation so my feet and hands suffer in the winter. I wear them inside my slippers. Have to take them off and wash them when I go to bed and hope they are dry in the morning.... I think they were made by Bridge somebody....cannot quite remember, but as it was 25 years ago when I bought them I suppose thats only to be expected!!
