In case of power cuts get one of the butane gas canister rings and some spare canisters - never without a hot meal or drink!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I do love these threads, I tend to heed to any warning of sub zero temps and naturally the past 2 years have stocked the store cupboard with dry and canned goods, fuel (candles and hexi burners) and feed my addiction for blankets etc etc.

Yes it may be scaremongering to some, yes we may get just a dusting of snow but i'd rather be safe than sorry and wont complain I didn't get warned if we do get caught out.

    Hubby was facying a snuggie.

Do need couple more duvets and blankets.

will look in matalan for kids as have 10month old and 4year old who starts school in sept.

We all electric so never thourght of gas stove but could come in handy think we had 2powercuts last year.
tv signal bad so reccomend good stock of books and boardgames maybe.

I do find daily mail quite extreme , panicy and doom and gloom we all going to die at times, sadly express gone same way.

But the kid in me loves snow.

I need new dressing gown and maybe at grand of age of38hubby light admit hes middlegages and can acceptably wear a dressing gown and slippers so trip to primark needed.

I need new pjs mine worse for wear so do girls.

Stuck on finding nice padded ladies warm winter coat that dont make me look like michalin man and potential shoplifter.
I have nice rainmac with hood but its not warm.
    We all need new brollies.
I need wellies and new boots.

daughter needs fake uggs and school shoes.

everyone I guess needs thermals hubby will think I lost the plot.

Prudent like idea of box im not very organised person really but would like to be,

Think I want slow cooker as be nice.

need 2-3new flasks and thermal containers/cups for when we winter pics.

One of my fave memories of new years day is with family sledging on mountain with hangover but we had flask of coffee and cake was fab.

I have 3wheeler buggy godsend in snow.

getting eldests daughters coat off ebay.
babys having eldests old babycoat but will need new snowsuit.

word of caution on uht its not as long life as you think and as ist tends to be more popular amongst eledrly sometimes one you pick up off supermarket shelf is short dated so do check.

saving that every time you in restuarant, service station or hotel picnch some mini uht milks.

I'm alright. I've just picked up a big round SAD lamp , a snip from ebay. With the heating set to tropical, it'll be just like a summers day in our house.

I shall do what I did last year when the snows came. I was doing a little house sitting, and used their heating; and lovely and warm I was, too.

Ignoring the daily mail which isn't always accurate, lol, I've been thinking about winter alread and been eyeing up thermals this week! I was hoping to find them on a good special off as it's summer, but no joy so far. I've also started putting money aside for the gas bill too, I cut it back by £100 pounds last year by dropping the temperature sensor a degree, and not having it on overnight. The year before was very bad with a small baby in the house and me all over the place and sleep deprived. However, I don't think there's many more savings to be made! I'll need to check up on gloves etc, but I expect the only new one needed with be for my rapidly growing toddler! He's got huge handmedown boots from his brother which should still fit fingers crossed.

    ..and I'm trying to remember that little verse about the different newspapers. It goes something along the lines of;

"The Times" - is bought by those who run the country?
"The Morning Star" - those who think someone else should be running the country
"The Sun" - they dont care who runs the country, as long as she has Big ****
"The Daily Mail" - the wives of those who OWN the country....

    etc etc...

...and no I'm not admitting which paper I major in.....
