I need to do something with my doors as the drafts from the sides are terrible.
I have tried that sticky tape on a roll but it gets jammed as I open and close the door cos the gap is where the door edge is and not the side where the hinges are.

We're having exactly the same problem. The wind absolutely howled through the gap in the front door and it is only partially gapping. Part way down it does the opposite and can even stick slightly.

DH bought some type of plastic draught excluder that you nail to the outside of the door but it started to come away a bit and didn't help. He's off on a mission to find one thats slightly better this year.

Least I've really thickly lined, full length door curtains to hang front and back this year. (when the poles are put up. )

You know when you get one of those de-cluttering fits and you throw out nearly everything in your frenzy, well I got rid of two beautiful knitted blankets, one of them was absolutely gorgeous, patchwork but with lots of different patterns in the squares too. It makes me miserable to think about it so I wont! That one on the sofa looked lovely.

I'm the same, I sold a faux fur throw I didn't use before I started this preparing for winter theme and MS. Then I listed another one on ebay etc which never sold after numerous relists.

Now I'm going to keep is and use it on a chair or over my bed and keep it after being inspired by your comments and spurring me on to what I had already thought about. Why sell it and buy another one in a different colour that will no doubt cost more money????

    Buxton - that blanket is gorgeous - I'm v.envious!!!

    Sounds just like my house.
Blooming door sticks when it's been raining and you nearly have to pull it off the hinges to open it.
Then when it's just cold the draught blows through.
Like you , I have a door curtain to put up and just needs the pole fitting.
Let me know if you find a better draught excluder please.

Hello, I'm new to this thread, not read beyond page 9 yet - sorry if this has already been said.

Ikea has got fleece blankets with holes punched along one edge which they say on their website means you can hang them to use as winter curtains! I feel a shopping trip coming up - I also want to get another quilt to put under the bottom sheet as that sounds so cosy!QUOTE]

Hi rosepink1984 - those fleece blankets sound great!! I've tried searching on their website but couldn't find them. Do you have a link? I'm not really near an Ikea. Cheers.

    Hi

Been lurking for a while - have recently joined Flylady, OS Weightloss, Grocery Challenge as well.

    My winter prep. so far is mentioning to my OH that it's going to get colder by the end of the week! Having read thru' this thread, my winter prep. (starting Friday - my day off work) now looks like this;
    1. get winter sheets, pillowcases, duvets, duvet covers out of loft
    2. wash/dryclean/iron everything listed in 1
    3. get scarves, gloves, hats washed
    4. stock up on porridge oats (for porridge and also for hob nob recipe)
    5. get autumn/winter clothes down from loft
    6. put summer clothes into loft (after decluttering old carp)
    7. buy some snuggly fleecy blankets for TV watching.
    EEk - better get started:rotfl:
