Preparing for Winter
Comments

I used to love winter - my favourite season - until 2 years ago and now I have to try really hard not to let depression take over. No idea why it changed but even now, with the light levels changing, I get a 'kick of dread' when waking. Why'd it have to change?
Anyway, find this thread is keeping me positive and I'm forcing myself to focus on the fun side to winter - candlelight, cosy hot chocs and cookies, snuggling on the sofa and fluffy slippers. Plus, seed catalogues and big plans to be made for 2010 growing season.
Repainting outside windows and re-doing sealant and draught-proofing at present.
Must hem my thick curtains I got from CS for the doors, too. :rolleyes:AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I like winter too and this week am starting to feel happier. I read that if you're born in winter then you always like it- my birthday is 23 Dec.
I like living away up here because we get tons of snow and we have an open fire - but when I lived in a city multi-storey flat I hated it.
Often wonder how people in places Norway cope, with 3 hours daylight in winter and 3 hours darkness in summer .I think we have it just about right in Scotland0 -
If I could hibernate in winter, I would.0

I am just waiting to see if I have any money left after the car is fixed. If I havent, then I wouldnt be able to buy in the fuel etc.
I have got to stop being side tracked, and get on and sort out my things to do!.
Currently sitting with the heat pad around my neck, trying to get my arm back on track, after doing too much this week.
I have only had enough paper to make two logs so far. But I think that I will soon have enough to soak this weekend.
I keep picking up pine cones when I visit my BF as he has a tree at the end of his garden. But I am only there about once a fortnight. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I get a good supply of papers from friends, they don't read the same sort of stuff that I do, so it's been fascinating reading the scandalous gossip of Peter and Katie, or what happened when Jade died etc etc. I'd forgotten so much that has happened, it's so true what they say about todays news.
So ask around, a good supply can also be had from public, or any other, libraries who take the papers and then get rid after about 3 months or whatever local policies say.

Great winter coat bought from charity shop for OH, need winter bedding for rescue animals and stock up on food. Got lots of wool stock piled for sitting in front of fire and knitting. This weekend going to sort bedrooms out so I can find winter curtains - got some fleece to line them. Both freezers packed with soups and blackberries, hoping friends apple tree will be ready to pick fruit soon. All in all getting on with it.Clearing the junk to travel light

Have been tonight to Matalan and bought some fleecy PJs for my daughter, also some pink bedsocks as she loved the ones I had as a Christmas pressie last year. Also bought a winnie the pooh mug for her reduced to £1 as she has suddenly started drinking hot chocolate and she only has melamine cups which aren't meant for hot stuff. Plus I bought a flask for my husband so that he can take HM soup to work with him.
It really feels like autumn outside tonight, but I haven't been on my summer holiday yet!0 -
Tonight's the first night i've really felt like winter/autumn's on it's way for a looong time!
It's lovely and chilly and breezy outside and i'm thinking about jobs to get done for winter. I really need to do a list actually... might get onto that tomorrow! xx0
