Preparing for Winter

Don't forget a hot water bottle. Start it off with a cover on, or wrap it in a pillowcase. As it cools down you can unwrap it, giving constant heat for longer. It lasts longer than those microwave wheat bags, and in summer when it's hot (if we ever have another hot summer), it can be a cold water bottle too.0

It is cold tonight isn't it! I've added this thread to the preparing for winter thread where there are lots of tips on keeping warm.

My lovely dad used to rub a raw potato over the outside of the windscreen to get the frost off... and at night so the starch would stop the ice setting so hard -making it easier to get off in a morning

MRSMCAWBER - re your blanky.
Do you mind if I ask how big are your squares and how many stitches you have to have on. I can follow a simple knitting pattern but go scatty when trying to work it out by myself.
You see, you're tempting me.

Hi Jamanda
My rectangles (like to be awkward lol) are 3 1/4" X 3" or about 8cm x 7cm...
I am using 3 1/4 needles and double knit wool(21 stitches and 20 rows)... doing rib (P1 K1)...I figured rib is thicker than plain knitting -so should be warmerthis is the last pic I have but he has now grown to 30 squares lol
