I have visited supermarkets with the £1 lock and customers have left the coin in the trolley.I use these and have bought a Thunderball ticket with a left pound. That ticket won me £10.
I've got a large JS nearby; I've made more than a tenner just taking back the trolleys left in the street with a pound still in it. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the same household who repeatedly brought their shopping home in a trolley (nearly a 1/4 mile) and then left it in the middle of the road. I'm surprised JS didn't send their trolley-herders out for a walk now and then.

Back to the topic - I have a B4L folded up in my briefcase; a larger canvas one always in the back of the car and have done for years anyway. The only time I've ever paid was when impulsively buying supper in M&S.
I need to think of something new here...

The trolleys in a market town supermarkets, about 20 miles have the £1 locks as the river was full of trolleys. As the chavs used them to ride down the valley to the river.

Then the residents wrote to the local rag letters page moaning about the locks!!

I got one of these a few years ago. I don't use it much but they are good as the smiley face detaches and can be used in leisure center lockers and pound trolleys

I don't suppose anybody knows the legislation that that article is talking about (if it exists at all). Or are we into freemen of the land territory or something equally stupid here

    I would say so.
How can a shop not be allowed to charge for an optional bag?
