The stronger/bags for life supermarkets sell these days are like a flimsy thin bag compared to ones back in the 90s. My mother used to get these thick strong ones from Iceland, she would use them every week (not just in Iceland) and they used to last years.
The bags for life these days start splitting after the first use.0 -

I've got quite a few from all sorts of different places - Tesco, Wilko, £1 shops - all been used lots of times and still usuable.0 -

Mine last for a long time - but I don't ram stuff into them, the only time they have split is if I put some pre-packaged meat in and catch the side - and when they're past their best you just take them back and get a new one for free.
Were the ones in the 1990 bags-for-life or did your Mum have to pay to replace them?0 -

There's no difference in the big four Supermarket bags from before the carrier bag charge started to as they were in the 90's. They're exactly the same. Anyone who think's differently has rose tinted glasses on!0 -

LOL of course not. I've got a Morrisons bag from 2011 in my car boot that is noticeably thicker than the 10p bag I got last week that they sell in it's place.0 -

Our Tesco Extra only has 10p bags for sale, but they are bags for life.
Some years ago, our council gave away mini lidded buckets, meant for food scraps, to anyone attending presentation explaining the new recycling system. The scraps can be wrapped in newspaper for the outdoor bin and the bucket cleaned out.0 -
I now have so many plastic bags stuffed in every section of my handbags and every pocket of my coats that I sometimes can't find my purse for the clutter! It makes you a bit paranoid about forgetting, doesn't it? :rotfl:
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
