English values are embedded in the creativity of the steam engine, penicillin, the world wide web, the cure for smallpox, stainless steel, stem cell transplant, Newton's laws, football, rugby, cricket, tennis, the jet engine, hovercraft....etc

Penicillin was discovered, not invented or created, but yes, by a Scot.

I saw a book in there yesterday that my son would like for christmas, it was on one of those £4.99 if you buy it with another item or £9.99 if you buy it by itself, there wasn't anything else I wanted so was prepared to pay the £9.99. Opting to pay 5p for a bag (wanted to keep it clean as it was a pressie) meant I got it for £4.99. Happy days!

So we've established that you're nitpickers as well as shopkeepers. Gawd :o.

We have established that I care about being factually correct and you don't.

A pedant's eye for detail often leads them to overlook the bigger picture.

Do you have any evidence to back up that opinion?

Absolutely no reason why one cannot have an eye for detail yet still see the broader picture.

But forming opinions or making decisions based on ignorance is not something I would recommend.

I don't know how about Lords, but a Gentleman will admit he is wrong with good grace.

When people resort to offensive comments, it's clear they have lost the argument.

    Not necessarily true.

[This is general observation, not directed at this thread.]

It could just be they are sick of going round and round in circles and/or being diverted by pointless tangents and non-sequiturs.

Do your carers know that you two are out on your own.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
