    Didn't get to post yesterday, too busy!

    Last night I went to the dentist for the first time in years and discovered, ugh, that I have to have £350 of dental work.

    £46.50 of it was spent last night on the initial check-up and consultation with x-rays. After that, there are three fillings to be done which I am scheduled in for in 3 weeks. Two small, one large, totally £245 :( And then he wants me to have a hygienist appointment to get rid of some build-up I have (it's been bothering me too, so I know I need to do it).

    Not sure there is a lot I can do. Of the total £350, I'll get £150 back from my healthcare company.

    Ouch! Can you see if you can find an NHS dentist? Would cost a lot less x

    Morning all!

    Maria - sorry about your flood but at least it sounds like the damage was minimal. And sorry about your friends baby.

    Dawn - what's the puppy called?!

    So yesterday I ended up cycling over 14.5 miles and my legs and bum are feeling it today! Bob - I only borrowed my boss' bike, I don't own one myself so cant keep it up but do feel more inclined to get one now as despite the pain I quite enjoyed it! I wouldn't be able to cycle to work everyday as my job involves quite a bit of errand running but could maybe do it once/twice a week.

    Service on my car cost £110 yesterday but I need new brake pads (which my dad can fit) and new tyres! Because my car has started playing up and is getting on a bit (although not 15 years/250k miles old!) parents have suggested that they get a new car (which they were considering doing soonish anyway) and I buy their car for whatever the trade in price would be. I can then sell my car and use the money to pay them straight off and then pay the rest monthly. Need to think about it. Wouldn't necessarily choose their car if I had a choose but it is a good, 3 year old car which I would be getting cheap.

    Ok I'm rambling now! Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Check FPL
    * Take mince out of freezer for dinner
    * Take lunch to work
    * See if I can book onto circuits without paying as instructor didn't turn up Tuesday - if not text him and say I will be there
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Claim free pizza (using boss' email!)
    * Transfer money to parents for car service
    * Pop to home bargains to get bits for lunch - I have mug shots and they're only 33p there compared to Mr T "deal" they had the other week of 5 for £3!
    * Dinner from stores
    * Go to circuits
    * Wash hair and let dry naturally
    * More crochet

    Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,100
    Total paid off - £10,500.89 (67% paid off)

    I've tried and tried to no avail. I even called up the NHS service to see if they could locate one for me but the nearest one they could find was a half-hour drive away and when I enquired about signing up, they told me they had a postcode catchment and only served NHS patients from the local area :(

    I'll be moving next Spring, so I might be able to find one there.

    My healthcare budget restarts in January so I might hold the hygienist appointment back until January. But the fillings I need are hurting my currently so I really do need to get them done :(

  • Good morning everyone.
    Don't know why I'm so late checking in today - I have been pretty much sitting on my bum.
    Dawn so pleased to hear that you got a puppy, but sorry he's a bit poorly. Good luck at the vets later.
    greensalad ouch to your dentist fees. I'm lucky in that I have an nhs dentist so usually £18.80 all in for me
    twiggy my car gave out a few days before Christmas a couple of years ago, completely beyond repair. My only regret was that I hadn't accepted my mum's generous offer to help me replace it much sooner. If you think you can manage with their car I would go for it.

    Here is my list for today
    [STRIKE]:p check bank
    :p PAD to CC - the car refund finally arrived so I popped the money straight over to it[/STRIKE]
    :p washing done and out on the line to dry
    :p feed my friend's cats
    :p take the kids out for our last meal out of the hols. It was going to be tomorrow but the restaurant they like is more expensive on a Friday so I'm going today as it will be cheaper than tomorrow
    :p 15 mins housework and declutter
    :p physio appointment
    :p operation school shoe
    :p check for surveys
    :p prepare next month's budget

    Have a good day!
  • Hello everyone!

    Got a long day at work today :( and not brought anything in for my lunch, however I have put £1.10 (thought I had 2 £1 coins, blind as a bat in the morning!!) on my staff card at work to get something in the staff canteen which is a lot cheaper than getting a meal deal.

    I will be checking Freepostcodelottery later on and keeping my fingers crossed.

    Pay day tomorrow so will be checking my wages and have an expenses form to send off.

    Choccielover xx

    Hi All

    Flood resolved, just a small hole in wall to be replastered. Am so grateful we were there.

    Friends baby has cystic fibrosis. Have googled and there is a 1 in 4 chance of babies having it if both parents are carriers so hopefully children 1 and 2 are OK. It is such very sad news and they are such lovely people and parents. All I hope now is that they find a way to cope and that the little one has a mild dose, if there is such a thing?

    Anyway onto money.

    Spent nothing yesterday, apart from DH paying the plumber, £20. What a lovely man.
    Today is a NSD. JKT potato already in work microwave having its first cook.

    Have a good day all.
