Thursday 27th August ~ What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really important!

    Thanks for starting us off Lego mum (did you have another name before?) sorry just being nosy....

    My list for today:
    Work from home so all meals drinks from stores
    DD1 starts NEW school today which we can walk to, no more using the car for nearly 2 hours a day to get her to and from school :j much more :money: and good for environment :) she also has free lunch at school so one less meal to think about
    Washing on cheap leccy, will hang out later when it brightens up
    Try and go to gym later when smalls are in bed
    Work on some mindset training for a positive mind
    NSD
    Try and do 7,000 steps to claims my b0unts point, did this yesterday
    See if we can work out how to get TD out, found out it has a reset button on the back but it appears the Cowboys that lived here before us tiled the floor after they put it in, so it's now jammed in :mad: we may have to remove the washing machine and slide along, but still not sure it's going to give us the space to pull it out, oh well.

    Think that's all, will check back later to see how everyone is doing. Have a great day everyone :T

    Morning Jonno7, yes I used to have a different name but then I found out my MIL used the site & my name could give me away ;)
    Hope your dd enjoys her first day in a new school :)
  • Morning :wave: thanks for starting us off lego mum but :eek: to the time you woke up!

    Hi jonno :wave: & hi to everyone else that follows. Today I'm going to take it easy. I've manged to make £280 this month which I think is enough to earn me a few days off!

    So today I will concentrate my efforts on a few things

    * check banking
    * check onepoll throughout the day - am at £34.40 now :j
    * redo my supporting state. The job I am applying for is the same job (different area) that I applied for in July. It's a good supporting statement but I don't want to bore the selectors to tears and send in the same one!
    * do a job search
    * read up on what is needed for my home brewing and make sure I have everything. Will pick a last batch of berries today which means I can start tomorrow :j
    * all meals from stores - pork joint in the sc for dinner
    * have a MS between 5-7. Read up guidelines for this and another one for tomorrow
    * someone coming round to pick up item sold on facebay £51 :T
    * do some exercise
    * make some compote to use up plums
    * list another 5 things on ebay

    Ok think that's my lot. Have a lovely day you lot x

    Morning DFW-ers,

    Thanks for the starter Lego Mum.

    Maria: Sorry for your troubles.

    Today will be another day of challenges and deep breaths. ;)

    Nillionaire Month Three:

    * Job-seeking. Go to a second round Interview!

    * Checked Finances online. Still no benefits. Hmm.

    * Watch tv recorded overnight.

    * Check broadband allowance.

    * Change all my passwords. Free precaution.

    * Get off the sofa and do some exercise.

    * I would quite like to deep clean the storage cupboard, aka Suitcase City, but mustn't do this til all other obligations are done.

    * See if I can repair my nice-but-cheap watch.

    * Turn alarm clock off at the wall til tonight.

    * Complain about broken whisk.

    News:

    England, NI and Wales remember there's a Bank Holiday on Monday. If your on benefits in Scotland you will also get paid early.

    Keep it purple folks. :p

    Morning all :)
    Didn't post yesterday as busy with new puppy :) He is very sweet, but must go to the vet today as he has developed um, a 'runny tummy' :eek: Squeaks quite a bit at night, so I have been having some very early mornings too, Lego Mum :rotfl: He is fast asleep now after a mad couple of hours (actually a bit more than that, I was up at 5.45 this morning, which was an improvement on 5.15 yesterday :eek:)

    List for today:
    Check banks Done, no surprises
    Various paperwork, for business and general life admin Mostly done
    General tidy up Done, but it is never ending, isn't it :o
    Cook a large pot of plums that OH prepared last night while I was babysitting :A and somehow find a space in the freezer for them :eek: Cooked, but still need to tackle the freezers :eek:
    HM meals from stores Done
    Sort out shallots which aren't keeping well :( May just pickle the lot! At least they won't need to go in the freezer! Not enough left any good to bother about pickling (I have been using them for a while) but sorted and the good ones in the kitchen for using up
    See if anything needs picking in the garden (French beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, courgettes are all likely candidates)
    Freeze another load of French beans Yes, all of those - gave the chickens a sliced up cucumber after seeing how many were in the fridge :rotfl::rotfl:
    Try to find freezer space for gifted windfall cooking apples (I have 2 freezers, though not big ones - one is the freezer part of the fridge freezer, and the other is a small under the counter one that lives in the conservatory. Both are absolutely bulging :eek: Our butcher has half English lambs on offer, and I would love to buy one, but there is absolutely no space :mad: Most of the space is taken up with HG produce, which will save loads of money in the long run, but there is also quite a lot of meat and fish bought on offer. So I must make an effort to use that and NOT buy more!
    Vet visit this afternoon (definitely not MSE, but less shopping, and using what we have in store, WILL pay for this!) Still need to tackle the freezers, but at least I didn't buy anything else today!

    Vet visit for Milo puppy, who was very brave about having his first injection. The vet assured me that his runny tummy was nothing to worry about :) She recommended I feed him chicken and rice for a few days until it settles down, which I am sure he will be happy with, and then gradually wean him onto dog food. OH suspects that once he gets onto chicken he won't be happy with dog food :rotfl: However, I have a MSE answer to this - he can have some of the bloomin pheasant that is in the freezer. That is very similar to chicken, but tougher, but I can cook it slow and this will make space for a few more beans and plums :T

    Sorry about bad news received / difficult times at work etc yesterday - I did read, even if I didn't get to post. Hope everyone has a good day today, and special thoughts for Maria's friend's baby.

    PS, good luck for today Ally!
