Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello All

Somewhat slower day pace wise today for which I was not unhappy.

    Money saving stuff.

Made a PAD of £3 to round my final repayment total for August up to £700
Uploaded 2 reciepts to COS/Clicksnap for 1p each (annoying they changed it down again but they will probably be increased again soon)
    Reconciled both sets of banking.
Cycled all journies (Twiggy - hope you do choose to get a bike. Even cycling twice a week would be good for petrol saving)
Bought 2 YS loaves of Kingsmill for 27p each and bunged them in the freezer.
Hung a load of washing out to dry.
Standard post work routine of opening all post, handling papers once, & shredding/putting paper for reuse but most importantly not leaving paperwork lying around. Stuck another load on. Tidied kitchen & put away dried washing.

Now having a sit down before I do dinner.

Ally - well done on being so in demand! Hope the next interview goes well too.
Ziggy - thank you. Only nice people today :)
CLF - sorry to hear about your Gran in law. Also sounds very stressful for your MIL and FIL. Sending prayers your way.
Maria - Thinking of your friends family and little one.
Dawn - Glad you are enjoying pooch. Puppies are so lovely.
Foxgloves - Great you did so well on your food budget even with the cut backs.
Crazy Cat Lady - Glad you found some inexpensive shoes. £12 is impressive.
Chocolate lover - maybe stock up your draw with a few essentials for next time you are short of lunch. Things like cuppa soup. Instant noodles. Crackers. Anything that gets you through a hungry day with least impact on your pocket.
GreenSalad -boo to your big dentist bill :(

Hello to everyone & especially Maria.

I haven't posted for a few weeks, but have been following all your ups & downs. I've no excuse for not posting, except for laziness!

However, having read Maria's post yesterday, I felt that I had to respond.

Maria, however how devastated your friend is at the news that her baby has CF, please tell her to try not to worry too much. I am speaking from experience, as my younger daughter has CF and she is now 45 years old. The outlook for a baby born today with CF is much much better than it was when my DD was born. My DD has led a very full & active life. She went to a university 140 miles away from home, obtained a good job with the council when she got her degree ( & is still in the same job now), had a baby herself 13 years ago, & recently ran a half marathon. This is as well as also being diagnosed a coeliac when she was 18 months old, and more recently developing diabetes. Your friend's baby will most likely have been diagnosed from a routine test that is done nowadays when the baby is very young, There was no such test in the 1960's, & we only had a diagnosis after my DD developed pneumonia. An early diagnosis means that treatment can begin early. We already had one healthy child before DD2, but when it became possible to be tested to see if she was a carrier of the faulty gene, she had the test which proved positive. My OH & I are obviously carriers too, but had no way of knowing until our DD was diagnosed. I am sure your friend will have been put in touch with the CF Trust, but just in case she hasn't, their website is www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk They have lots of information & offer huge support to people with CF & their families. Maria, please pass on my best wishes to your friend, as I know how devastated she must be feeling, but the chances are that her baby will have a full & happy life ahead of her (or him).

Sorry to ramble on, on a personal note, but I couldn't not respond after reading Maria's post.

I will join in again soon.

Too tired to give a proper update, feel we kept to our debt free plan over all, especially as I refused when OH suggested we had a take away.

Kayann thank you for taking the time to share your families experience of cf.

I second that. What a positive piece of first hand experience shared to help others going through diognosis. Hope it helps you Maria.
