How much annual leave do you get?

However I still count myself lucky. In the U.S people normally get 2 weeks leave!!
Its worse than that, they normally get 2 weeks paid sick and holiday. After that anything more (sick or holiday) is unpaid.
When I was last an employee it was 30 days plus bank holidays. As a contractor its nil paid holiday0 -
Officially I offer staff 20 days plus bank hols, but in reality once we know they're a keeper we don't really mind how much staff take off (some go on hol 4 or 5 times a year), and we give them full pay even if off sick (one member was off for a year recovering from chemo with full pay). Its quite a relaxed but hard working office where everyone has input, staff can b*gger off and watch TV/films, play on consoles, darts, bring their kids in, spend a few hours in the pub opposite or bring some tinnies in, work from home if it keeps them happy and motivated. Think its working, out of 15 staff this year, there has been a total of 2 sick days (probably hang overs, my programmers are light weights), and we've doubled turnover year on year since 2010.
where are you and do you need more staff ?
;) Nonny mouse and Proud!!
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!!

around 277 hours - just over 7 weeks
plus 6 requests each month. Debt slowly coming down.[STRIKE] DRO off credit report July 2015![/STRIKE] credit history getting better!0 -
Currently 20 + bank hols. New job starting next week 26 + bank hols so a big improvement.
I've generally always had 20 + bank hols - damn tight arsed accountancy practices!0 -
I struggle with just 26 days a year.
With a previous employer I used to get 23 days + public hols and felt well rested though the full time job was busy and I was studying at the same time.
Now I get 28 days + public hols with the option of buying 5 additional days. Even with the increased allowance and no studying it does not feel enough as I just have more going on in my life now.0 -
25 days plus bank holidays. The number of days do increase with length of service but I can't remember the time it takes for that. I think in mitigating circumstances we have the option to buy/sell holidays as well.0

27 days plus bank holidays (some of which are taken on the actual day, some of which you have to work but get a day to take off another time).
My issue is that I work backshift meaning I often have to use annual leave for things that happen in the evening - birthday dinners, gigs, family events etc. Sometimes friends are keen to arrange mid week get togethers which is fine for them cos they all finish at 5pm and can go along after work but I have to actually use up a day of annual leave to do something in the evening. Social things are more likely to happen in the evening than morning. What would make a real difference to my annual leave is if I had more flexibility to work hours that suit me rather than set backshifts.0 -

On the flipside lots of people have to use up holiday for Dr appointments, dealing with trademen etc coming to the house, seeing other professionals etc where as you can deal with all those whilst your off in the afternoon etc
Personally I'd rather use a days leave to spend time with friends than to be sit waiting in a GPs office because they wont do what the consultant tells them to without seeing me once a year to ensure I still exist or something.0 -

I'm not off in the afternoon (normally! Today I actually am off work :rotfl: otherwise I'd be there now) but, yes, I have the benefit of having mornings free for the occasional GP appointment or funeral.0 -
I'm so jealous of the annual leave some of you get. I get 28 days a year, but have to use some of that to cover bank holidays and a few days Christmas shutdown, so in reality only 16 or 17 days to use when I want.
I've asked my boss if I can work bank holidays and use the annual leave at another time but he says no. Tight git.0
