UKPC has been made aware of this incident (of wardens changing timestamps that cannot be changed) and it has been fully investigated (sh|t, it's on the telly now, and Rupert says that if he has to go to court again heads will roll). This behaviour (getting caught) is completely contrary to UKPC's operating procedures and employees who do not adhere to our high professional standards (i.e. who get caught) or codes of conduct (:rotfl:) are subject to disciplinary proceedings up to and including dismissal (actually we've given him a bonus for thinking up the idea).
We have put steps in place to mitigate the risk of this reoccurring (we've sent them all a copy of the Prankster's blog so they know in future how to fake it without cocking it up)Je suis Charlie.0 -
I'm amazed UKPC has replied to look north. They must be watching it in social media and realising how many of us have band together.
The news is available to watch on iplayer now (6:30pm) and its look north East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.0 -
Obviously everyone submitting an appeal or defending a court case where the "evidence" consists of photos taken with a hand-held device should state how easy it is to alter the timestamps on these things, and that the "wardens" are incentivised and therefore have reason to do so.
Make the scum prove that (i) the timestamps haven't been tampered with (the only way they could do this is to produce the actual warden as a witness, which is not terribly likely) and (ii) the warden isn't incentivised (which they can't do, because he is).Je suis Charlie.0 -
This from a Channel 4 Dispatches programme earlier this year:-
Whistleblower
Until a year ago, Tony Taylor worked as a team leader for one of Britain’s biggest parking companies UKPC. He claims UKPC pressurised wardens into using those tactics to boost the ticket tally.
The company say he resigned after complaints that he used underhand tactics in issuing tickets.
Tony Taylor explained some of the tactics used by some parking wardens. He says: “Ghost ticketing is a way where you issue a ticket to a vehicle, you place the ticket on the windscreen, you take the photographic evidence then you remove the ticket from the windscreen, this then stops the driver getting the reduced rate. because he is totally unaware he’s received a ticket on the windscreen.”
Ghost ticketing was not the only sales term that Tony Taylor says he learned during his two years with UKPC.
Tony Taylor says: “I used to get text messages and one text message would have gone to all the wardens phones and it says hi guys, Christmas is coming you’re car parks should be very busy now, give them sites a good banging” [issue as many tickets as you can].
“I would get an email or a phone call to give the wardens a motivation call…Motivation call basically means call the warden and put pressure on him, if you don’t get that amount of tickets out you’re down the road you’ve lost your job.
Tony Taylor also showed me a company email revealing that the more tickets you issue, the more money you’re paid. He claims that in some cases the bonus could be worth more than a warden’s wage. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Notice the word mitigate, not remove. Its not difficult to timestamp using sources which can't be tampered with.
In any event expecting a warden to photograph every car then go through hundreds of photos to find the cars which may have been there over two hours, whilst still photographing cars arriving is impossible.0 -

Indeed, anyone who can write an app this sophisticated could get the timestamp from a reliable source on the internet instead of relying on the 'phones (easily altered) time - unless, of course, they wanted the timestamp to be easily alterable. In any event expecting a warden to photograph every car then go through hundreds of photos to find the cars which may have been there over two hours, whilst still photographing cars arriving is impossible.
According to the description earlier in the thread that's not how it works. All the warden does is to photograph the cars using the app, and the app uses OCR to recognise the number plate and identify the supposed overstayers (which is all of them if the warden has altered the camera's time!)Je suis Charlie.0 -
Download the app and run in developer mode, it asks for times.
It stamps nothing other than what is entered by the app.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
