Probably a wise decision. I will never forget the customer who went overdrawn without permission and when she arrived in the branch the manager phoned the police.0

Hopefully they won't get rid of the HSBC brand... I quite like it... As a poster above said... they will probably just call it 'HSBC UK Bank'.0

Not sure why this is needed - everyone knows the HSBC brand.
I feel quite reassuring whether in Miami or Malaysia to see the brand when you are abroad - in case you have any issues.0 -

That's one reason they are so popular with money launderers. The ease of shifting money across borders.
HSBC are desperately trying to shake off that image of being the drug dealers and money launderers heaven. A name change may or may not help them in their quest.0 -
i don't think it will remain "HSBC". and i don't think it will become First Direct either..
either Midland or a completely new name.0 -

my current cheque book says Midland Bank
A cheque what???? Haven't used one for donkeys years!!!...I am a bit wary of contactless payment though. If you lose your card, anyone can make purchases upto £20.00, which is increasing to £30.00 later this year.DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499
28th October 2019 - £13,505 - 27% paid off.
