  • Feeling slightly better after realising that some of next months CC payment has been allocated and hiding in separate account; therefore paid the £233 of T***Co card which reduces next months minimum payment of remaining DEBT cards to £192!

Have also been rewarded £80 cashback from Q***co, must admit I left a review on the retailers website which was none to positive (and they did not publish) but this resolved the payment issue within a day...AMAZING result!! I find it almost more amazing how feedback can resolve issues at lightening speed :T I am seriously considering a Tweet account for this specific reason.

Also discovered 60 euros stashed away from a previous trip yay...are things looking up?

Well off to work...I really cannot wait for this week to end! Have an engagement party tonight but haven't got gift or anything, think i left it a little late to be creative?!

  • Morning Folks

Feeling quite please with myself this weekend, have been having a good old clearout. The sun has been shining which has kind of helped, plus BF had to go back to tend to his boys for night yesterday. Shouldn’t say it but it’s been really nice to have a partial weekend to myself!!

Bad news is.. my bath flooded into my kitchen on Fri morning, nothing major but has left some water damage. Thankfully Dad came over yesterday and found problem with plug...

Also gone OD on bank account by approx £30, I could not resist the tinned toms and chick peas 4 for £1. However good news is that I have £21 to pay in + i'll make £69 next week by doing three treatments.

So, my successes this weekend (so far).
    • Tidied garage and chucked stuff in prep for roof repair.
    • Cleared shed and discovered 2 classic car seats and other bits to sell :j
    • Stacked wood that BF has been squirreling from his forest runs.
    • Mowed lawn and pruned.
    • Swept patio.
    • Sorted through one file.
    • Dyed hair...badger woman no more...yay!

Going to commit by writing a goal list for the day; once I get up and survey the chaos that is!

Have a happy Sunday folks x

  • Morning Bluebella, just wanted to stop by and say hi:hello:, just found your diary. You're doing an amazing job, my debt levels are a bit higher than yours but it's great reading these diaries for motivation and inspiration, still trying to figure out the payment a day and the rounding down of credit cards. I'm currently overpaying all my credit cards but am now wondering if I should just stick to overpaying one more than the other. Will be subscribing to your diary. Happy Sunday.

  • Your doing great bluebella :) clear outs are good, I need to do one really, we have DD's cot which I should be sticking on ebay cos she's in a bed now, and lots of her clothes.

Lincs, what I do is focus on one debt at a time, it depends if all of yours are similar apr or not, I'm focusing on the highest apr first, then just paying the minimums on the others, then once the highest is gone you have that ones minimum to use for th next one? I just paid my very off which has freed up £55 a month to use on the next one as well as its normal payment xx

    Hi Lincs1205

Thank you for stopping by to say Hi, yes the diaries are fab for motivation and inspiration and I will deffo stop by and check yours out! I still dread to think of the final payment day, as it does seem daunting considering how far in the future it is. I did recently read a book which suggested working out each card debt % of the overall debt. You then work out a sum that you can over pay each month and overpay that % to each individual card. Does this make sense lol? I don’t even think I make sense to myself sometimes :o

    Simple example
    OVERALL DEBT £2000.00
    CARD 1 – £1000.00 (50% of overall debt)
    CARD 2 - £1000.00 (50% of overall debt)
    Min payment – e.g 1% = £10
I can afford £100 overpayment this month, so literally 50% to each debt = £50

This is as simple as I can make it lol. But as all my debts bar one are on 0%, i'm aiming to pay all my minimums and chuck any spare cash at the one that is reverting to the original APR..that card has £1620 on it and I want to clear it asap! I will be looking for another 0% and hopefully get accepted next year when my rating has improved.

OK, I said i'd commit to some goals for the day:

    • Power wash patio and paths
    • Paint fence
    • Bonfire
    • Washing
    • Go through another file to chuck
    • Organise work file to one instead of 3!
    • Undercoat cupboard doors and wooden chairs
    • Find a cheap room for first night in Naples
    • List 5 items on the Bay.

Maybe it’s a little ambitious...but got to start somewhere...oh, that reminds me...i'd better start! :D

Yes, do it kindofagilr...children's items usually do well at auction. That reminds me, I have loads of DS clothes in attic from 20 years ago. I'm a tad sentimental I have to say, even have a box of paintings and drawings from nursery. I will however forget about that for now..I have larger fish to fry!

By hook or by crook I am determined to declutter and make some money into it if possible. So far I have one big bag for the charity shop, OK not technically making money..but I can't be bothered with selling 99p items...and some of it is off to fellow freecyclers or maybe the dump!

  • Thanks kindofagilr & Bluebella. At the moment I'm working on getting my credit card debt down and will then tackle dh next. The barclaycard is 18.9% Apr and has 516.37 on it I am going to clear that this month this will be done by putting £150 towards it plus the remainder of £336.37 which will be partly paid by a cheque I have received from black horse, next on my list is the lloyds card which has 7596.96:eek::eek: on it this is 6.4 % Apr for the life of the card however I also have a bank of Scotland card which has £4753 on it and is 0% until February so I obviously want to clear as much of that by then. So that is where my quandary lies do I continue paying both of them off excessively or stick to just the one. :(

  • Ohh Barclays, we have two barclays, we rang them (rang all the cc's) and asked them if they could reduce the apr for us (we haven't missed any payments or anythung just explained we were trying to pay them off) and they happily reduced mine from 29.9% to 6.9% and OH's from 19.9% to 9.9% for 2 years. Then a month later they doubled our limits and we were both offered BT of 6.9% for the lifetime. So we switched some of our higher debt to them

If they lower the apr for you it doesn't effect your credit rating, Barclays were the only ones willing to do it for us, so I love Barclays at the min lol

If they could do that for you, then i would be tempted to hit the one where the 0% runs out first xx

Deffo bluebella kids stuff does seem to do well, I just need to get my butt in gear lol xx

  • lincs1205 have you tried the credit eligibility tool to see if you may be accepted for another 0% card? It's worth looking into as it only completes a soft search.

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/eligibility/credit-cards/

Had a great day yesterday, didn't achieve all of my list but i did feel pretty good at the end of the day:

    • Three wash loads.
    • Mowed lawns.
    • Swept and power washed front path.
    • BF fixed garage roof and chopped more logs for fire stash.
    • BF sorted plug hole.
    • Weeding.
    • Went through one Uni file and chucked (most of contents), think i'll have to do two cuts :o!
    • Took 2 dumpy bags of garden waste to dump.
    • Found a cheap room in a hostel in Naples for first night.

Also made £30 on the Bay, just awaiting collection f items now :j

Feeling shattered again, about ready for bed!

  • Morning Folks

Ohh i'm so happy, ohh so happy...nothing like payday to put a spring in my step. Wait until end of month when i am miserable and moaning.

Had a particularly good pay pack this month, not quite sure what's happened there..better check it I guess..? But, it couldn't come at a better time what with going away on Sat :)

I was checking old DEBT card statement this morning (as you do at 430am) and I discovered another biggy bonus to make me extra happy... the DEBT card I thought was reverting to 21.94% in October is actually 0% until January!!! :j I have just overpaid by £80, so I have £1520.00 to focus on getting rid of..yay...

Must get on with the decluttering..got £20 from the Bay furniture collected yesterday, need to run along to bank and pay in.

Also, someone interested in renting room, could bring in an extra £60 p/wk..advertised for £75! I'm tempted..could give an extra £240 to chuck at debts or £60 weekly...just imagine!!:D
