Good news is that whilst it is somewhere in the 50s percentile in the UK as a whole in Scotland it is about the 'bottom' 75% who receive more from the state than they put in.
Presumably in Corbyn's socialist utopia everyone would receive more from the state than they put in....I think....0 -

Most likely you are having a jolly nice time as part of the establishment. The thing such people fail to understand is that when encountering those who are not having a jolly nice time, the reason isn't always that they are not trying hard enough to be part of the establishment.
Often it is the establishment which isn't trying especially hard to ensure they have the jolly nice time that persons who look and sound like persons of the establishment enjoy.
Is all change good or just the change you want?0 -
Pasted from Guido:24 hours after Harriet Harman admonished Jeremy Corbyn for his poor record on women, the Labour leader appointed woman-beating economist Thomas Piketty (above left) as his new star adviser. Piketty was charged with domestic violence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend on March 17 2009. According to a member of the French Socialist Party: “The details of what Thomas did to Aur!lie are quite shocking – they drove her to contemplate suicide”. Despite Jezza’s new adviser admitting “the facts of violence” and apologising, the charges were dropped at the request of the victim. Corbyn and McDonnell say they are “delighted” Piketty is joining their team…
Labour now have:- a Hamas-apologist leader
- an IRA-sympathising Shadow Chancellor
- an arsonist education spokesman
- a rioting political adviser
- a death-threatening aide
- and a woman-beating economics adviser

But likewise some households will use the NHS far more than others so 'cost' more - I've not seen a doctor or GP for about 5 years
If I can be forgiven for the wicked sin of reposting something (!), the following might be what you had in mind:concentrating on personal income and tax paid, the following are of interest:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/tax/11233686/How-top-3000-earners-pay-more-tax-than-bottom-9-million.html
and this
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/the-graph-that-shows-how-the-poor-are-paying-more-than-the-rich-in-tax-10353982.html
Note the papers
So in terms of how much is paid by whom, the rich would pay back a larger proportion of the money than do the poor. However in the process is doing that they would have paid less as a percentage of their income than would the poorest.
As to what is fair in this context, that's a difficult one, bringing in whether one rewards workers, savers Etc.
All that is not up to date because of tax changes but it adds some background to the OP.Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.0 -

Corbyn's what?Red Tories are running and scurrying like rats from a gravy train.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Listened to snippets of McDonald's speech on r4.
Kind of makes the right noises re tackling the deficit but severely lacking on details as to how because it's not going to be by cutting spending. Corporations and tax avoidance seem to be the answer.
It's all very similar to the snp garbage if you ask me - appealing to the thick and needy with vague promises of making them richer with no actual plan of how this will work.
Same old bollox about those who caused the crises should pay for it (with no detail as to how he will punish the US sub prime mortgage lenders). I'm also not clear on the link between corporate tax avoidance and the bankers (whoever they are).
Some bizarre reference to the Tories being the party for the 1% - could have sworn they got more than that at the ge but maths never was John's strong point.
I bet mr toast is lapping this up.
To me same old lefty bile, no substance, no plan, lots of hatred.Left is never right but I always am.0 -

Thought the labour party conference was bordering on surreal today. The shadow chancellor took the stand with the words "greetings comrades".
Comrades? seriously? does he think he's living early 20th century Russia?
He then when on to foam at the mouth about various things the evil tories/coalition have done wrong without an iota of detail on how he would achieve or pay for anything.
The expression "don't know whether to laugh or cry" is very overused, but in this case quite appropriate.0 -
How about a mass social experiment:
Cut the UK in half, say about Newcastle.
The snp and Corbyn labour have the north bit, including the oil, 25% of the debt and NOT the £. Tory s keep the south bit (socialists don't like bankers anyway).
Everyone moves (or stays) where they want to go. You can move each year if you want.
Can anyone speculate on what will happen?
Feel free to alter the terms of the split if you want.
I have feeling the north will end up a barren uninhabited waste landLeft is never right but I always am.0 -

Not to forget a massively racist Shadow Secretary of State for International Development
If any white MP had dared to utter just one of the equivalent statements Dianne Abbott has come out with they would have been instantly sacked. Her vile racism (she's also mind-numbingly stupid, more than you'd think possible, but that's besides the point) has been ignored because she isn't white (or male).
If anyone needs reminding:
"white people like playing divide and rule"
"(Clegg & Cameron are) Two posh white boys"
And that's just off the top of my head and what she's been caught on record saying.0
