the poor are actually doing just fine. they are receiving a decent amount of state support. many actually abuse it. you are very deluded.

The poor by definition of being poor are not doing fine. What you are trying to argue is that people on benefits are not poor.

You appear to be unable to provide any figures that substantiate this. Mostly I imagine, because your opinion is based on prejudice rather than fact.
  • The company my daughter was working for finally closed down (red tape multiplied too much and caused them serious problems, they were telephone debt collectors but had all their teeth removed).

Thanks, that made me smile. Karma's a b*tch!

Oh wow. A Labour MP posted some offensive stuff 13 years ago.

    Yes. He hasn't changed since.

Sophie Evans, a pub worker from Sheffield, claims O’Mara made the comment to her at a music venue where he was DJ-ing in March this year. Sophie recounted her version of events to Guido over the phone:

“I met him on the dating app Happn in August last year. I was chatting to him, he seemed alright and I met up with him once but it was obvious nothing was going to be going on with him. He’s the DJ for West Street Live so I saw him from time to time. In March this year I was out with my friend. There was a bit of an incident. My friend was standing in front of the DJ booth and Jared kicked her coat out of the way… I joked that the DJ had a problem with me because I turned him down… He just flipped, we were having an alright conversation then he just stepped back, looked at me and went “I wouldn’t touch you with a manky woman’s c*ck you ugly b*tch.”

It isn't up to the government to decide what people spend their money on.

It's not their money. It's not even the government's money. It's our money, taken from taxpayers who go without because of the colossal tax bills some of us pay. If I'm paying to keep someone, as indeed I am - many people - then absolutely I have the right to decide what other people spend my money on.

They should not get to spend it on alcohol, cigarettes, or gambling.

Does he hate the right people now though? Jews, for example? If so he could still go far.

Our equivalised household income puts us deeply into poverty. We are doing fine.*

*Unless your definition of fine includes latest version apple products, latest gen consoles with hundreds of games, subscription to the full sky package plus netflix, two new cars on PCP every 2 years, 2 takeouts and one restaurant meal a week and one long haul plus two short haul family holidays per year...
    I think....

It’s a cliche, but tax is the price you pay for living in a civilised country.
If you can’t buy into that idea, then leave.

That statement can be said about an economy that is 30% GDP from government all the way to 60% GDP from government. So its no better than saying some taxes need to be paid

As the other poster said, if you don't like paying tax then you will have to go to a country that doesn't take any.

That would be somewhere like Somalia. Not sure how well your buy to let empire would do there but I wish you all the best finding out.
