  • Not really. Labour put Cal Mac out to tender in the first place. Corbyn will simply have to aquaint himself of the facts. Instead of simply believing the negative spin on this particular story.

He of all people should know not to believe everything you read in the papers.. They can be a bit 'partisan' on occasion. The Daily Record being no exception. ;)
The SNP government is clearly only operating under exactly the same tendering and procurement rules as those that operated when the service was last tendered under the last Labour/Lib Dem administration. At that point, under pressure from the SNP as opposition, Transport Minister Nicol Stephen wrote to EU ministers for clarity on whether or not these services did indeed have to be tendered. The replies, although verbose and obscure, basically said, "yes you do".

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

A laughable extrapolation you make there Shakey. You know wishing something to happen doesn't make it any more likely don't you?

Is common thinking that if the Tories are set for another five years in 2020 there will be calls for another referendum.

    .

what a load of untrue nonsense.

we all know that the SNP will try for another referendum if they think they can win and have a realistic tactic for actually getting one.

any and every event would be sufficient

That's correct. But this is the wrong thread for it. :)

of course I'm correct which is why we have so much in common

later: after the May elections we can discuss the correct tactics.
But start discussing with your fellow acolytes and shock troopers
-boycott of english goods and services?
    -interrupt the gas flows?
    -disrupt parliament?
    -block HS2
    -send Scottish weather south

just start thinking about the possibilities

I guess with him not trying to be a smart alec with 'point scoring one liners' Cameron would have walked right into a trap had he responded with the normal cheap shots (for example on singing ability) - but by not doing so he was forced to look as if he was following Corbyn's lead by changing the terms of the debate.

Hmm, not so sure myself. Cameron could have easily given Corbyn a thrashing but for Cameron there are 2 other explanations in my mind:
    1. Wouldn't thrashing a 66 year old man who is quite weak in debating (from what we've seen so far) just make Cameron look like a bully and come across badly with the public?
    2. (more likely) Whats the point of destroying Corbyn now and having him out of the door before Xmas? Its another 5 years until the next election - with him being so unelectable, surely it makes sense waiting until 6 months before the next election to demonstrate to the public how useless he is and destroy him then?

You might also bear in mind that you arrived in a country that had an insecure social safety net, and limited educational and employment opportunities for working class people, which then made massive inroads into poverty reduction and educational attainment while you were growing up which allowed people like you - presumably, baby boomers - to enjoy an unprecedented level of financial success.

It would also be nice, if on seeing Tories trying to turn the clock back to the 1950s you might reflect on the opportunities you have had and speculate that it would be nice if kids being born now continued to enjoy them, and were prepared to put your hand in your pocket to do so.

As all we hear from the right is "me me me" I won't hold my breath.

As I said I pay eye watering amounts of tax.......And yet you want more....

I suspect you want "big government" but you personally don't want to pay for it - you want someone else to - that someone else being the so called "rich" who, by the way, aren't actually "rich" at all. You are a money saving expert who wants everything in life to be free and be delivered to you on a silver platter with the bill going else where.

The things you mention - great education and good health care etc - they were all delivered by right leaning Labour and Conservative governments - left wing Labour governments deliver nothing but disappointment (because there has never been one).

PMQ's, Corbyn's asking some pertinent questions. Certainly better than Milliband.

Sorry. He's turning a once great PMQT into something akin to a day time radio phone-in show.

Apparently, if another referendum is put back on the agenda then 1 in 3 voters won't vote SNP

But 2in3 will so they will win?
