Peak old people : glad I'm not a boomer (and I have private health insurance!).
That peak just after the war is 1947 to 1948 - those guys are now turning 70.....add in all the people that came to the UK in the 50 and 60s from the commonwealth who were probably also in the 20s born 40s...you get peak old people...
....buy some private health insurance!0 -
..........But it's not just about 'me' is it Posh....or perhaps it is in your case! If such a peak was predictable.........why wasn't it planned for?
'cos the boomers like their holidays in the sun and Chinese crap rather than health care?Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -

Look at the German model......people cough up more there, despite losing the war! and having all their industry dismantled and taken to Russia. We have to face up to it. It's about choices. When Blair was in power spending as a proportion of GDP was much larger than it is now!
yes Blair was borrowing a lot of money (even in a boom) for current day to day spending on the NHS (and other stuff) .... this broke Brown's own "Golden Rule" of only borrowing for infrastructure/investing in the future...
you do have to face up to it....buy yourself some private heath insurance and leave the NHS to those who need it....Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -
