OK, it's clear that Corbyn isn't persuading lifelong Tories to vote labour but doesn't anyone worry about the lack of effective opposition?

Farage is arguably the most influencial single politician of our age, having to a large extent turned the political world on its head.

There are many ways of opposing these days. The liberal left pretty much controls the TV media in terms of message, and they are found throughout public life.

Whatever you think of me doesn't change what the Labour party has become under Jeremy, a failure waiting to happen.

No. "Effective opposition" is a myth. Labour could get in Bill and Ted's time machine and assemble a shadow cabinet of the most effective and successful statesmen in world history, and they would still have a minority of seats. The only "effective opposition" is a hung parliament or the system they often have in America where the head of state is one colour and the body another.

Being a longstanding member who has been subjected to the'Blairite and 'red tory' taunts I know this only too well! Being a Social Democratic, pro Europe moderate ain't too easy these days! All the 'momentum' seems to be with the extremes of Farage or Corbyn!

By that definition all opposition is ineffective if the government has a majority.

That would be a niche view of what makes an effective opposition.

    OOOoooops.
Paul Mason turns on Jeremy Corbyn
Since stepping down as the economics editor of Channel 4 News, Paul Mason has become a key cheerleader for Jeremy Corbyn. Mason has used media appearances — along with his social media — to campaign for the Labour leader and call out MPs who fail to show Corbyn sufficient loyalty.
So, Mason today finds himself in a curious position after the Sun published a video which shows him suggesting Corbyn does not have what it takes to be leader. In the video, the former broadcaster confides to a comrade that Corbyn needs to be replaced

Shami Chakrabarti’s fall from grace: how a liberal hero lost her reputation

Once, it was trendy to say you liked the former director of Liberty. No longer.

well I am pleased to say that along with my many pre brexit warmings about the UK large foreign a/c deficit, I have always seen Chakrabarti as a self serving sanctimonious champagne socialist.
