Heidi Alexander has described Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of Labour as shoddy and unprofessional, in an article spelling out her reasons for resigning from the party’s frontbench last month.

I would have thought he should probably try and appeal to labour voters first...

If he's going to get any Conservative voters to back him, then he's going to have to do something about the NHS waiting list for frontal lobotomies.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

    Time for a new party?
Many Labour members are open to joining a new party. Nearly one in five (18 per cent) of those polled by YouGov said they would join a breakaway party, so there is an appetite for competent left-wing leadership. A further 14 per cent said they didn't know if they would remain in Labour any longer, so they could be wooed away by the moderates if they put together a compelling electoral offer.
Moderates have been driven to the brink of a split by Mr Corbyn, and it's understandable why they're cautious about taking that leap. But his survival as party leader will make that option inevitable. If they stumble into a split, the breakaway party will be a damp squib. They need to start planning for it and how to make it work. The rise of parties like Ukip has shown that insurgent forces can swiftly become part of the political landscape. There is no reason why a left-wing equivalent, offering its own blend of populism and competence, couldn't work.
And 29% of those backing Mr Smith warned they would leave the party if the incumbent wins the race

Does anyone think there will be a mass resignation by Labour MPs and by-elections? Has anyone read anything to that effect?

Can't see it personally. PLP will suck it up, let Brexit play out and wait to see what the polls do.
Maybe one or two sacrificial lambs to keep the fire burning, but we've had one failed attempted at mass action, doubt we'll see another.

Of course not. They would sooner sit tight on their invincible 5-year contract till they get wiped out in 2020, and then walk off trousering a big fat wad of taxpayers' money for having been useless parasites. Much like their voters' lifestyles, in fact.

At some point the split in Labour between its members and its MPs will have to be formalised. But Khorbiyn's energies are focused on things like reducing the number of MPs who have to nominate a leader to 5%, so that when Labour falls to 150 MPs next year John McDonnell will only need 8 nominations to get onto the ballot to replace Yeremiy. The stupid, stupid members will then do the needful and return another total nutter and whackjob as Labour leader.

You can only win in the centre, and Labour utterly loathes and hates the centre. In fact, quite a lot of Labour considers Ed Miliband to have been a Tory - that's how far off the reservation they are - and loathes and hates anyone to the right of Khorbiyn, which is to say Labour utterly loathes and hates almost everybody.

Given how utterly creamed Labour and the LibDems now are they could perhaps form another alliance, but it looks to me like the left is in smithereens for the duration. Good; it will enable some bold, consensual government by May for the sensible majority.
