For most people I suspect that what happens is that old photos, videos and sound sit about for a few years on obsolete media and then get chucked out when they die. I am watching this very process happening with my in-Laws.
Their kids don't know what the passwords are and what half the junk the parents have does. BiL might be able to salvage something but the chances of him getting round to it are basically nil.
That's sad. Isn't it worth trying to save it for your kids - it's their ancestors?0 -

I think that the stories are more interesting. Quite honestly, seeing the year 3 Nativity Play when my great step-Aunt got to play third shepherdess from the left in 1956 might be interesting in a lot of 10 pictures of her but as a set of a few thousand then I can assure you I will never find the time to sort through them.
If they're in a format that needs more than a few minutes or a quid to make accessible then they're in the bin.

Just wait a couple of upgrade cycles and nobody will be able to open it anyway.
There's another poll out, this time of Labour members:

It seems that it's not just Moby that loves Mr Corbyn.
...but he just glared at them and they laughed and whooped even more!
Any polls around on the referendum? Can't see much myself.0 -
Now now....I don't love Mr Corbyn. I just feel compelled to defend him! I've always said he is no good for labour at all. Yesterday in the Commons ....he was being heckled by the tory rent a mob.....when he got up they shouted at him.....'and who are you'?. I was dying for him to shout back .....'ask yer wife'!;)

on dear, poor Mr Corbyn being laughted at like that : pity his mates in the IRA didn't just laugh and debate with people they disagreed with, rather than killing them.
He deserved to be held account for this views and for the people he supports. And of course he deserves support from people that support his views too and who travel the same path.0 -
Leafing through an album of pictures that have no meaning other than "oh yes, we were there once" may become one of those pastimes that is simply too dull for modern tastes. Like gathering round the piano before we had record players. Or charades before we had television and computers.
Important pictures of family and life events will always be framed and displayed. It's only the dull ones that will be lost. For the pictures that you want to keep as a memento but aren't important enough for permanent display, you can now get electronic picture frames that show them on rotation. Without the bother of hauling out the photo album and forcing your kids to sit down and look at them.0 -

The NUM were also (allegedly) pretty handy with a concrete block through the windscreen. A chap I know received various "hints" when he agreed to give evidence against Scargill in court.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

All part of the rough and tumble of the democratic process during an episode of class warfare. The ends do justify the means you understand....I think....0 -
Scargill was only trying to get off a speeding ticket!
Scargill's cruise control was in pieces on Jim's bench at the time he was stopped.

Andrew Neil had a really interesting statistic on This Week -
Less than 40% of Labour members were in the party when Ed Miliband was voted leader.
