It's really safe, honestly that's the least of your worries.

In Germany almost all ebay transactions are done by bank transfer, and assuming your seller is on the level it's a quick and easy way to do things.

You are giving them exactly the same details that are on a cheque or direct debit.

    IMO

    LIST A

As a buyer its best to pay using paypal financed through a credit card

    LIST B

As a seller its best to accept payment by western union (although thats now banned), a postal order, cash into a bank account or cash that you can check is OK.

As a buyer I would never suggest you pay for items using LIST B.
As a seller I wouldn't suggest you accept payment in LIST A.

Thats where the problem arises with ebay.

I've paid by paypal and been ripped off 3 times despite using a credit card, so no payment method is truely safe for buyers.

I'd change your credit card company then.

All were less than £20, so not a big deal, don't all credit cards refuse to bother with low value chargebacks?

No. Lloyds don't even investigate below £10, and just refund automatically.

I'm with HSBC, perhaps they're more ruthless?

I didn't try anyway as I thought there was a limit, perhaps there's not.

Paypal promise me that as soon as my sellers have some money in their accounts I'll get a refund...
