I tried ringing up on Friday to try an haggle down my contract and I was told that "The system is not working, call I call back in three hours". Three hours later I got the same sob story.
Call back again today (Monday) and got the "Sorry our system is still down" followed by "I see you've already called us twice" and "I'm afraid we can't offer you a call back".
Is anyone else experiencing this?0 -

When they say they dont have an actual outbound team think its to confuse people. As what actually happens is the inbound team retentions have access to discounts, but if you cancel you are then phoned by the same inbound team but they have access to greater discounts as you cancelled. In other words the inbound team is the outbound team.0 -

I called up today and got offered an upgrade to the 350 package for £48 a month, with the price fixed for 18 months. Does that sound like a good deal or should I cancel and hope the retentions department rings up with a better offer?
It seems to me there is no rhyme or reason to their pricing, I am on the most basic tv package, although my broadband has snuck up to 100Mbps, and I pay £49 per month. I called to try to negotiate and was told there was nothing that could be done. I did manage to convince them to send me a Tivo6 box if I was going to pay that much, but having now set it up, it seems like a small consolation.
I don't understand how they can offer such disparity in pricing for services, some people get cracking deals and others get stuffed.
Is it just down to quota?0 -
It might be down to whether they want your business, ie how profitable you are to them.0

A family member cancelled 2.5 weeks ago. Retentions haven't called back and only a day left to do so.
Edit - no call for a customer since ntl days0 -
Ok so my £48 a month was due to end next month. That was for 100 Meg bb, top TV package without sports and movies, and weekend calls.
They offered me same for £58 through cancellation line. I said no thanks. Would only keep my price if I dropped to lower TV... With no kids channels as those are on the max channel packaged... Taking advantage of families.
Anyhow I said no thanks after listening to the whole speel about how they are the best for broadband etc... Maybe not the cheapest but the best.... Still said no.
That was yesterday. Call today from the retention team whlo can offer bigger discounts. I said OK I'm listening... Yada yada long term customer etc... How about £54. Best they can do... I said thats not good enough. She went to speak to manager but came back no better. Offered me credit to account of £50 so I bit in the end.
Best deal was therefore £54 plus £50 credit for 28 months no increase. 12 month contract.
Really wouldn't budge on that. So took it.. Seems they are not doing as good deals these days.
And yes they do call. Probably your virgin land-line.
Good luck!Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -

My new subscription after the latest rise would have been £146.24. A quick phone call has just given me a Broadband increase from 200mb to 350bm and the VIP Bundle (including Sky Sports HD) for a new subscription of £100.50. Certainly worth the phone call. :-)0
