I'm now within the last month of my BT contract   (BT Fibre 1 currently paying £29.91)

For £29.91 i just get broadband and the free TV channels (i don't subscribe to any TV packages and have to pay for any landline calls i make).

1 - Can anyone suggest a better deal BT has for existing customers that they recently secured
2 - Can anyone suggest a better deal elsewhere that they have recently secured

    Thanks in advance :+1:

My recommendation is to discontinue making phone calls over the BT landline if they cost over £5/month. Use your mobile instead on a SIM only contract that provides unlimited calls and texts for around £6/month.

Is your BT broadband FTTC or FTTP?

Fibre 1 = FTTC (Used to be known as Infinity 1)

That's the same package I am on and I'm currently paying £25.06, but I'm expecting this to rise to about £27.40 this month. (I re-contracted in Jan 2021 for 2 years at £23.99 so this will be my second price increase).

Fibre 1 (was Infinity 1) can be FTTC or FTTP. I was on BT Fibre 1 FTTP. I am now on BT Fibre 2 FTTP for £10.00/month (before the recent increase), plus £219.84/year (£18.32/month) line rental saver. I use the included digital voice to receive phone calls. I use a SIM only mobile to make and receive phone calls.

    Hi
I'm not sure (i had to google what those terms mean and am still not sure which type of broadband i get).
All i know is that it downloads at around 18 mb when i go to one of these online internet speed checker websites.

The bit about landline phone calls - i should have been clearer and said that although in theory i pay for landline calls i've never ever made any landline calls (i use my mobile phone as you have suggested).

Having gone onto Money-supermarket website i think i will be moving to Talk Talk (67Mb £19.34 a month when taking into consideration £75 gift voucher, 18 month contract).
i will ring BT tomorrow but i doubt they can beat this (having read through this thread it looks like no one else has got anywhere close to renegotiating a contract at around £20 a month).

What hub model do you have?

Does the hub (or an intermediate modem) plug into the secondary socket on your master socket faceplate, on the same faceplate where the phone plugs in? If yes then you're probably on FTTC (where the fibre runs from the exchange to a local distribution cabinet, and then the last stretch to your home uses the old copper phone wires).

    Quick update from me;
i just spoke to BT and the best price they offered me to renew my Fibre 1 deal was £24.99  (currently i pay £29.91 and in my offers section of my account to renew it quoted £27.67), so the £24.99 isn't too bad it was worth me ringing up to have a chat.
However i think im off to join Shell at £21.99
