Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.
Thank you Natty for last week's thread
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up
These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Thanks Bossy we're in!
I'm going out to run errands in town since I get paid tomorrow so DD will be flying in the bathroom.I will be doing a good hour or so of house admin though before I leave and I have a work delivery arriving any time after 7am. Plenty of time to gently encourage her to take Z for a walk etc since she's up at 6am this week (getting ready for back to school
)
I'll add a list tomorrow as I'm still working on what needs doing this week as I have work for a day at some point & DD is out Tuesday with her friends then away for the weekend.I have the feeling its going to be a very busy week
See you tomorrow! :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Thanks Bossy. I'm in, and most of that list got done today, hurrah! So, this week I pledge to do at least three things from each daily list.
It may just be my computer, but I can't get the link from last week's thread to this new one to work. ETA: Fixed - thank you!Better is good enough.0 -
Can I join you all? We've just recently hired a skip and cleared out the house. It needs a properly good spring clean and I want to get into some good habits so I don't end up with so much clutter ever again. I don't think I'll get too far down the list before work but I'll let you know how it goes.November GC-£128.30/£200

HB That would be because I forgot to add the link in,
Welcome LB29 just do what you can, the rest will come around again next week, and get to know us all! XBossymoo

Thanks for lists.
Dusty and CY hope for good day tomorrow, in different ways.
New recipe was deemed a success; greengage and polenta cake. It worked well after I'd found a fantastic site which converts obscure weights and measurements into easier ones - with apologies to any Americans reading this, who would want to measure out 13 tablespoons of butter?????? I'd have lost count half way. For the record, it is 6.5oz. I can do grammes, but prefer oz as my usual scales are inherited from my Grandma, proper brass ones with weights.
Of course I'd mopped the floor before I made the dinner; big mistake.
This week brings 2 assessments; private tomorrow and the first one for my new uni contract on Thurs. Also some private tuition on Wed. That's all afternoons; mornings I suppose will be hitting the gym again.
The potential buyer for the freezer hasn't made contact, annoying.
Have a good week anyone.
Anyone else at the Carfest at Overton (nr Basingstoke) next weekend?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
I'm in Bossy please and thanks to Natty for last week. I'm going to try harder this week - it just got a little overwhelming before the weekend and I lost focus. Despite having guests to stay since Friday (or, more accurately, as a result of their expected arrival) the bathrooms were spotless and are still not too bad. So, a good starting point for me!
Won't be in Overton next weekend Narco, but I drove along Overton Road (near Ruabon) this afternoon to collect six hens. Yes, my sad, feeble attempt at a link :embarasse:embarasse I have no actual idea where Overton is in the world, as I don't know Basingstoke either but hope you have a great time x
Catch you all later xxx0 -
I'm in - thanks bossymoo :A
CY - thinking of you x
Congrats to you flychildren who achieved their GCSEs :T
Few errands in town in the morning and then popping to Dad's - may need to do an HHC or two after that to keep me focussed

Thanks for the thread Bossy.
Good luck for tomorrow CY and glad you spent some time watching cricket, did they win? Hope you are not washing the whites.
Hoovered the entire house as part of operation moth extermination. DS3 has been diving around clapping at them. Boys are to take all sofa cushions off tomorrow and hoover underneather them all.
Ironing all day, two maidens of stuff still airing.
See you all tomorrow. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I will try to be in this week; it would be good discipline to do the list day-by-day like a proper Flylady!
Well done FBO - no mean achievement that!
Had a salad today with cold chicken and delicious pear chutney so thank you for that, Honey bear! Chutney is on my 'dream list' of things to make. I have also jammed the last of the currants; made a fantastic inroad into my veg bed. I have caught and trimmed some strawberry runners and prodded them into pots filled with a mixture of soil and HM compost; I have decided to move the strawberry patch back to where it was, at the bottom end and shall try potatoes (again) in the top end next year! Not sure whether it will be all new strawberry plants or I will move some. I did manage to get all the washing in before the rain came!
Cycling - pleased you got to watch (and enjoy) the cricket; good luck for tomorrow.

Thank you Honey Bear0
